Aziraphale cares for the drunken demon, and Crowley tries not to destroy the fragility of their rapidly-sweetening association by intimating his increasingly difficult-to-hide feelings for the angel.

Summary
Aziraphale can feel the lump forming in the back of his throat. His eyes sting with unshed tears as he turns, looking away from Crowley. His whole body is turned away from him, almost as if he’s closing himself off. It breaks Crowley’s heart. In all the years they’ve known each other, after all the fights, they’ve never done that. They’ve never closed each other off.
Crowley takes a step back, ready to leave his angel forever, when he sees the slightest shudder in Aziraphale’s shoulders. Crowley pauses, watching carefully. It happens again, a small shake in the usually tense shoulders. He’s crying.

When Crowley and Aziraphale bump into each other in 41BC, it’s at a work event. Aziraphale’s been tasked by heaven to help reunite Rome under Marc Antony, and hell has assigned Crowley as the trusted advisor to Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt. It would take a real miracle (or at least a strong temptation) to broker peace between the rulers. Perhaps, the demon thinks, there’s something in it for him as well.
Squint between the lines of history, and you might just find a love story.

There’s a long silence. It’s been a while since Aziraphale had sat through something so awkward. The last time had been when he’d dragged Crowley to see the film Sausage Party (2016) in theatres, only to find out that it was not, in fact, a deeply moving children’s cartoon about food.
“Now, that can’t be true.” Madame Tracy’s voice is quiet.

“Well, nevertheless – I believe I’ve noticed something about you,” he goes on, remembering the purpose of his conversation. He reaches out to run a hand through Crowley’s hair, burying his fingers in his soft, messy strands and ruffling them further. Crowley shudders, and Aziraphale feels a satisfied smile creep onto his face. “I believe you’ve been quite unjustly starved of physical affection, my dear, because nothing makes you relax quite like being touched.”
Crowley’s face screws up, but his expression seems closer to thoughtful than derisive. To prove his point, Aziraphale slides his hand through his hair, making sure to tug ever so slightly, and Crowley practically melts with the contact. The tension in his shoulders drops for a moment, and he lets out a soft groan as his eyes close.
“You see?” Aziraphale murmurs, leaning into Crowley’s space to lock eyes with him. He offers a teasing, self-satisfied smile, and adds, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say the effect is nothing short of miraculous.”

Aziraphale turns just enough to take in the group of people as they dance. He watches for a second, buoyed by their happiness; none of them are dancing the same steps, or moving in the same ways, but all of them are smiling, their laughter as light as air. The music wafts over them, caressing them as they move through it, as if they were meant to be there. As though the world had not almost ended mere days ago.
As though it never could.
He grasps Crowley’s hand in his and takes a step towards the dancers, stretching their arms out between them. “Dance with me!”
“We don’t know how to dance!” Crowley protests, but he still follows Aziraphale, as he always has.

Summary
This is not Aziraphale’s first trip to Hell, but funnily enough, unlike last time disguised as Crowley, demons are actively avoiding him instead of pushing him around. He supposes he would have the ability to smite at least the lesser demons with one snap of his fingers, not that he’d do that and actively start a war. He's not quite sure how much power they think he has, but he better walk as if he had an immense amount.
(To any keen eye, he fails horribly. Fortunately for our angel, most demons do not have a keen eye.)
Or. A canon divergence in which the ball takes a slightly different turn before the demon siege and Aziraphale makes a trip downstairs once again.
