Summary
Every summer, Endou Mamoru disappears.
There are people you think you know completely, and then there are the things about them that exist just outside the frame of everything you’ve seen. His team has never had reason to look further than what Endou shows them. He has never given them one. What is visible has always been enough, and what isn’t visible has stayed that way.
But this summer is different. The Football Frontier International is on the horizon, and Raimon is heading to an international training camp, the beginning of everything they've spent a year becoming ready for. Their captain should be first through the door. He should be the loudest person on the bus. He should be impossible to miss.
He isn't coming.
That part, none of them quite know what to do with yet.

Gouenji, on the other hand, has not stopped eating after saying this.
'I think I might be pregnant' he repeats, chewing on his food, unbothered like he was talking about the weather.

“Ghost?!” One of them pointed at Ben in panic. “It doesn’t even show up in the radar!”
Ben was beginning to think they thought he was a ghost just because Stinkfly was green. It felt kind of racist.

“That... stupid coach will be lucky if she ever sets foot on a pitch again—”
“Natsumi-san, you’re making it worse!”
Kino’s uncharacteristically sharp tone makes Natsumi all but drop the ice pack she’s holding, fumbling with it as she loosens her grip on Endou’s bruised hand. He doesn’t say anything, barely even makes a noise, but she can feel the tension in his body lessen a little, and so she mumbles an apology. He does hiss a little when she puts the ice back on, and she doesn’t apologise for that. Instead, she grits her teeth, and stares at his hand instead of his face, wishing she were doing something more active than holding an ice pack so that she could stop her mind racing with fury.
