Around the ice they spun, Till trailing behind Ivan, hands clasped tightly together. Twisting and twirling, the men intertwined, breathless laughs erupting from both parties. Till’s heart pounded as Ivan drew him close, before lifting their arms and spinning him around. The dance continued for some time, Ivan guiding his partner across the ice, catching him at every stumble. Though he would never admit it, Till felt like he could spend forever on the ice, wrapped up in Ivan’s movements.

Phainon chuckles. “As acerbic as ever, Mydei,” he says, jabbing him with his elbow. “Anyway! I was just saying—it’s a pleasure to stand before the esteemed new Lance of Fury,” he winks. “What is it they're calling you now? The 'Roaring Lion of Castrum Kremnos?' The 'Kremnoan Dawnbringer'?" Then, more consideringly: "I don't really blame them, though. You were amazing earlier. You really came in the nick of time."
Mydei rolls his eyes, even as his faithless heart can’t help but flutter. “Call me any of that shit again and I’ll grind you into dust, haikas. You know well I have no use for such inane titles and feckless flattery.”
“Don’t like it?” Phainon pouts. “Fine. Congratulations rescinded. Though it wouldn’t kill you to accept some praise for once, Mydei.”
“It’s called humility, Deliverer. Perhaps you would benefit from practicing it,” Mydei shoots back.
Phainon laughs at that—a proper laugh, not one of those fake little things he supplies to the throngs of Okhemans who worship him like a Titan come to life.

“Parties are meant to be celebrations, right?” Angel asks. “What are we commemorating?”
“Uh,” Denji says, taking a long drink from his soda can. He’s been paranoid about alcohol in big groups ever since his first kiss. “I dunno. Power, did we decide what we’re partying for? I guess we’re celebrating being alive. And pizza. Oh, Aki, we ordered pizza, but you’re going to pay for it, okay? Anyway, the main event is surviving. That sounds good.”
It sounds good to Aki, too. Under the table, Angel is nudging his knee into Aki’s thigh, a mindless warmth. He doesn’t have his gloves, so he can’t take his hand, but Aki begins tracing nonsensical sketches across Angel’s upturned forearm just to have an excuse to touch him.
Let it be known that Aki would never go so far as to host a party in his apartment if it weren’t for all the devils in his life.
