After Kamino, things go downhill. Shouta neglects his headspace as he struggles in the aftermath of his early retirement and everything that Class A has gone through in the span of a few months. It doesn’t end well (for him) once he reveals to Hizashi just how far he’s spiraled.
And, unfortunately, as he’s “put on his clown uniform,” in the words of the youth, his tendency to stall and hide from punishments . . . doesn’t go over well, either.

Listen, for a fandom that’s known for shipping the most random ships that haven’t even spoken to each other (kuroo and oikawa, hello????), let alone ever been in the same space, they’re really not exploring the same potential for platonic relationships because wdym there’s only THREEEEEE works in the yachi & Ukai tag???? I think bnha is the only fandom that explores platonic ships with the same intensity and insanity as romantic ones (or maybe I just think that because I only read stuff about Aizawa and they have him adopting EVERYONE (cf that one Aizawa adopting Hawks fic like ??? And I’m SO SURE THERE ARE MORE))
(Also insanity is a keyword here because, well, I’m sure cm, for example, also does a lot of platonic stuff, but that makes sense—I’m talking about ships that you pull out of your ASS (like Tooru and Kuroo); bnha pulls out dadzawa fics out of its ass the same way hq pulls random ships out of its ass (Erasermic family as a concept is spiritually the same as Tooru and Suga being a ship solely because of the “Mr Refreshing” thing, like we see two scenes of Aizawa and Hitoshi interacting and suddenly Hitoshi is a traumatised abused foster kid who emic adopt, make it make sense (i mean, hell yeah, obviously, I’m all for it, just take a look at the top relationship tags on my bookmarks (Aizawa & Hitoshi are number three (wouldn’t it be funny if that changes when I reread this note)), but truly where did we get that from?)). If it moves, Aizawa will adopt it, and it doesn’t even have to canonically be a child (hawks. dabi. shigaraki, too, i think.))
(This is a direct result of dadzawa brainrot. There are found family parent-child relationships everywhere for those with the eyes to see.)

"Can I hold you?" Hizashi asks.
Shouta nods, and strong arms wrap around him, firm enough to feel the pressure but nowhere enough to feel confining or restricting. Shouta hums deep in his throat and Hizashi gives him a soft kiss on the forehead.
This is a routine for them, one carved out slowly after many years of trust. It was a slow build, not something formed or made overnight. Shouta falls back onto it easily, with confidence in full faith. He puts his trust in Hizashi to catch him, and Hizashi does so with practiced grace.
Shouta has been touched all his life, but in the arms of Hizashi he thinks this is the safest he has ever felt.
