Irritation flickers across Steve’s features as he steps forward again, still breathing hard and unevenly. Still red in the face.
“You’re really going to make me say it?” he whispers. “You want me to ask?”
“No,” Eddie grins, reaching up to tug at the red ascot tied around his stupid little sailor shirt. He leans in closer, hooking a finger into the waistband of his stupid little sailor shorts. His lips brush the shell of Steve’s ear as he speaks, voice pitched soft and low.
“You’re not going to ask. You’re going to beg.”—
Eddie spends his summer learning things about himself – such as the fact that the only thing he enjoys about his dreary summer job at the mall comes in the form of one Steve Harrington: fallen from grace, suited up in a borderline indecent uniform, easy to torment, and wound tighter than a drum.

Steve nods encouragingly, bolstered by the absence of a dismissive laugh, an awkward change of topic.
“You’re saying that you want me,” Eddie continues, eyes darting between Steve’s, “to talk about fucking a dude. To see if you get hard.”

Hop said it’s a bad habit he’s gotten himself into, these night drives. Patrolling the town when everyone’s asleep, nobody to ask the question of why Steve Harrington drives circles through Hawkins past midnight every night.
It’s nearing one a.m. and Steve sighs, because—shit. There's a van on the side of the road that wasn't there on his last lap.
He can’t drive off now. He’s already stopped. Already committed, so Steve swings his keys around his finger and sighs again. Opens the car door.
He comes to a stop a few paces away from the van. Raises his voice slightly when he says, “Hello?”
“Fucking—what, hello? What?” comes a voice from the other side of the van. “Who—jesus, if I’m about to get murdered, I swear to—wait. Harrington? Steve Harrington?”

Steve’s breathing goes tight as he waits for the words to spill over Eddie’s lips.
“We could try something, just you and me. A little experiment. Clothes on, not too weird, just…letting you see if it’s something you would be into. An innocent, no-strings tester.”
Steve’s stomach is in knots, and he can’t tell if it’s anticipation or nervousness. “Wh — what sort of experiment?”
“I could…” Eddie offers, twirling his hair around a finger and tugging it around to hide his pinking cheeks, trying to look for all the world like he has no ulterior motivations. “I could let you spank me. Over the jeans, just to see how it feels to you.”

Summary
After Star Court and the Russians, Steve has trouble sleeping. Even when he does manage to fall asleep, the nightmares wake him up and he can't get back to sleep. Nothing he's tried so far has helped: enter Eddie Munson. Steve goes to Eddie for an herbal remedy to help his problem, but on the way to meet him, stumbles upon a strange plant in the woods and ends up with a face full of weird spores. Noticing that Steve seems under the weather, Eddie offers to drive him home and help him out, but it turns out what he's got is a hell of a lot different than the common cold.
