Things don't quite go back to normal when Eddie returns home from his week long retreat in Derry. Or had it been longer? Something about being in mortal peril for the majority of his time in town had really made the days fly by. He lasts maybe twenty minutes alone before all the freaky deaky shit he'd thought would be behind him now, a thing of the past, please, pops back up the second he lets his guard down.
Eddie really should’ve seen this coming. Bad things always come in threes— Two showdowns with a maneating alien entity isn't enough paranormal exposure for one lifetime to negate that rule, apparently.
Because now his gay ass is turning into a puddycat.

“Maybe you should introduce yourself,” Bev suggests mildly. He hasn’t told her -- or anyone -- about Richie, but maybe that was a mistake. She’s looking at him like she knows something.

“Um,” Bev says. “That’s a question.”

Eddie’s had this alarming habit recently of staring at Richie’s face while Richie is talking and completely tuning out whatever Richie is saying to instead scrutinize each one of his physical characteristics and decide whether or not he finds them attractive. It’s probably flattering because, on the whole, his judgment is: attractive. But the entire exercise has an air of anger and incredulity that makes it difficult for Richie to feel too smug about it. Eddie thinks Richie’s ears are cute and he wants to bite them, but he’s fucking pissed about it, apparently.
Or, Richie has a side-effect from the deadlights: he can read Eddie’s mind.

Winning Ticket was a shitty program about a family that struck big and won the lottery; since its release he’d watched it at least 5 times over in its entirety.

When Eddie googles the name of the agency, he’s surprised to find a fairly sleek-looking site. In clicking around, he finds more euphemisms that only barely disguise the true intentions of the site. He can filter by categories, some of which are obvious - alternative, Latin, urban - others which are a bit beyond his vanilla experiences - electronica? Sounds painful.
He frowns at one labeled “Comedy”. That can’t mean just funny strippers. He doesn’t think anyone really wants to be laughed at when their pants are around their knees. Could it mean...sex workers who are less conventionally attractive?
Or: Richie books a gig. Eddie books a prostitute. Neither of them ask enough questions.

“Rich,” Eddie says, and even in the dim light without his glasses on Richie can see how high up his forehead his eyebrows are, “are you… hard?”
