They’d planned it this way, going on a Tuesday afternoon when most people are stuck at their offices or classrooms or wherever the hell else normies spend their time. Headstones cast shadows over the climate-burnt grass, and little specks of dust keep getting stuck in Pete’s eyelashes, making him wipe his eyes and curse under his breath. It’s small, but it’s enough to coax a smile from Badger. He’ll take any distraction available to him to pretend he isn’t sitting at the grave of a friend. To pretend that their group hadn’t dwindled from four men to two in just as many years.
