Summary
Lance never frankly wanted this life. So, he decided, he would aim to leave his hometown and see what else could be in store for him beyond it.
Yet, life never works out like you expect it to, and Lance ends up returning to his hometown.
Unbeknownst to him, though, his life would take a turn he could not fathom—a new family had just recently moved in next door with one being a boy his age, Keith Kogane. He suddenly had competition and he would not be backing down.
Somehow though, through all this rivalry with Keith, Lance found himself falling in love with his life in his hometown once more. And maybe, just maybe, something else had started to bloom in Lance’s heart as well.

Volleyball was Tobio's sole solace. It meant time spent with his grandfather, his rock. Playing with his grandfather was the best thing in his life; losing his grandfather was the worst thing in his life. The spark in Tobio’s eyes died that day.
But, Shoyo’s eyes sparkled with determination, his eyes so bright and genuine. No matter the circumstances he was given, Shoyo persevered. No storm however strong could weather his determination down.
As he gazed at Shoyo, Tobio secretly hoped to himself that those twinkling eyes would never dull.

Lance knows, however, that his dreams will never come to fruition; his days are numbered and he can barely hide the fact that petals and blood adorn his dorm room in the most poetically morbid way.
