“Here’s the thing,” Zack says, voice trembling. Rising. Finally. “All the shit we went through… I’d go through it again, if it meant I ended up by your side again. Don’t get me wrong. But I’m glad you don’t remember any of it. You’re lucky.”
The apartment goes very quiet. Cloud’s anger slips free of his hold, and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end with its sudden presence.
“I’m lucky?”
Against all odds, Zack and Cloud make it to Midgar. Things aren't perfect, but they're happy just to be alive. There's just one thing: Cloud's memories don't match up with the stories he's been told. And there's something wrong with Zack.

(Norton discovers an angel and reluctantly takes him in, learning more about the lonely being that seemingly fell into his lap. Motives seem to change over time as they become acquainted with each other's worlds and past mistakes.)
