Summary
When Lan Wangji came to the magistrate’s estate in Yunmeng, he found the aged manor house in a state of neglect.
The county was no longer what it used to be. Few people within its borders could truly be called wealthy; and with no diversions for rich men to be had within a day’s travel from the magistrate’s seat, a posting in Yunmeng had long been considered something of a punishment in the capital.
We grant Lan Wangji a fifteen years’ appointment at the magistrate’s office in Yunmeng, read the imperial decree bestowed to Lan Wangji last month. In this way, the Second Young Master Lan can serve the people in peace, in accordance with his temperament.
This did not come as a surprise, for Lan Wangji’s appointment—which he did not consider a punishment, in spite of the circumstances—had been granted in retribution for his brother’s betrayal of the Emperor.
In which Lan Wangji goes into exile, immerses himself in local tradition, and falls in love with a river god.

The painting was absolutely astounding for something so wrong. Why did they make it sound like he was some type of grim reaper?

He had obviously made a huge mistake. What a shock it was to suddenly be brought back to reality.
During the Phoenix Mountain Hunt, Wei Wuxian was just a bit more out of it, Lan Wangji didn't realize what he was doing, and Jiang Yanli arrived a little bit earlier and witnessed the entire scene.

His lips were curved into the smile that had captured Lan Zhan's heart from the very beginning.
The Wei Ying in front of him was just a boy, not yet tainted by war's harshness and people's cruelty.

Wei Wuxian’s bleeding body was right at the centre, strewn across, limbs twisted unnaturally, as though the earth itself had tried to tear him apart. His robes were partly burnt into ash, the rest were charred to his skin, fabric fused directly to flesh. There was no clear boundary anymore, only destruction. Wei Wuxian’s skin however started peeling off his body, the array looked as if it was ripping his skin off, revealing the layer of bloody muscle and sebaceous tissue. His veins were mutilated off, severed by an unseen force, blood pouring freely onto the glowing array beneath him.Wei Wuxian’s screams and sobs echoed across the cave.
They were raw. Broken. Unrecognizable.

Summary
“Wei Ying?” The voice which speaks into the sudden silence is hoarse and shaking and ...familiar?
There’s a shift like movement to his right and he tenses automatically against the blow.
“Wei Ying?” No blow comes. Only that voice again and yes, it’s definitely familiar. Familiar but ...not from now. It’s a ‘before’ voice and he doesn’t let himself think about ‘before’ so he shies away from the memory, pushing it down down down as he does all memories that come before the dark and the pain. Still, something seeps through, an image: long black hair, jade pale skin, white robes, a headband, and lips set into a disapproving line.
OR Wei Wuxian is being kept in some dark horrible dungeon underground until the day Lan Wangji finds out he's still alive.

It had taken Jiang Cheng almost a year to get a spot in the clinic. After the years he had wasted before that, those 11 and a half months felt like the icing on the cake - if the cake was frustration and shit, that is.
He was 22, for crying out loud. According to the doctor who referred him to the clinic, he could have lived a healthy, fulfilling life after his turbulent teens, but no. He was stuck with all this anger and hatred, this bone-deep loathing he carried wherever he went like a noose around his neck, choking him up with every step.
Oh well, no need to get overly angry at that, he was finally going to get help, right? Right?
Jiang Yanli convinced Jiang Cheng to give therapy a chance. If not for himself or even for her sake, then for baby Jin Ling. And there is little Jiang Cheng wouldn't do for Jin Ling, so he goes.
It's about as fun as you probably expect, until he reunites with someone he had thought he'd never see again, at which point everything gets even more fun- Not.Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng end up as roommates at a psychiatric inpatient clinic.
