The voice remained quiet. One beat passed. Then two.
Jayce opened his mouth to say something, to accuse the voice of being a liar, but he was interrupted before he could utter a word.
“Hextech, we must stop it. I’m done with it, Jayce. If I say anything different…” The disembodied voice trailed off.
“What, Viktor? If you say anything different, what?”

The longnecks wanted the image they presented to be perfection, to persuade the good people of the Senate that their investment was well-placed. To have gotten the Marshall Commander post was recognition of his skills, his hard work and dedication. He was so, bloody, proud.
