Summary
Jibril Diop had never truly held grand ambitions, acknowledging from a young age that the world wouldn't ever revolve around him. But for once in his life, he wanted something so badly that he was burning from the need for it—and Jung Yeseo, despite fully being able to do much better, pointed him out in this crowd and gently took him by the hand into the spotlight, fanning his flames and encouraging his irrational desire so that they both could burn together.
Like the anomaly that he was, Yeseo was probably the type to bet on the losing side of a dog race, and still somehow come out the proud victor.
Jibril Diop, loutish firstborn son of Duchess Bonheur Diop, is a Beta.
Jung Yeseo, second son of the Jung Barony and a highly coveted Omega, wants him anyway.

As Cédric's father lay bleeding amidst the vast magic formula, drawn in a desperate attempt at summoning divine intervention, the Lord sends them Her reply.
(Cédric is twelve years old when the Almighty God finally bestows him mercy—Her young incarnation by the name of 'Yeseo'.)
"Hyung."
At a familiar title, said in a lowering timbre of voice, Yeseo looked up at the call.
Cédric was there as usual—always in his line of sight, never straying too far, nor for too long—and an ebony gloved hand was soon extended to him.
"Another dance," he said, not so much a request than it was an expectation.
And oh, how could Yeseo ever say no to this silly young man?
"You should be saving up all these dances for your future wife," he sighed forlornly, nevertheless accepting the hand reaching out to him.
"Enough with your nonsense, hyung." Cédric clicked his tongue, sunset-orange eyes dimming unpleasantly. "You're the only one."

It is when Cédric mistakenly calls him "Jessie"—distinctly in the Empire's unique accent, instead of the Venetiaan way it was supposed to be said—that Jesse realizes that one of the reasons why the Imperial Prince has avoided calling him by his name, was because the man himself wasn't even sure on how to pronounce it in the first place.
Jesse doesn't particularly mind, however. He has, after all, gotten used to hearing everything but Jung Yeseo be used when referring to him.

Cédric Riester is a man of few words. But lately, Jesse has noticed that the crown prince actually speaks quite a lot when they're together—though, only in the ancient language of the Empire, which Jesse himself doesn't understand.
