Where do people go when they vanish? How long must they be gone before others declare them dead?
To vanish as a mortal is to surrender to a death sentence, it seems. People do not vanish. They die.
Where does that leave his family, if they defy death?Or:
In winter, 1832, Nicolas and Sébastien are hired to guard a family of fur traders as they make their voyage to Alaska, when disasters occur and they become lost in the wilderness. Nicolas finds a letter from Yusuf telling of Sébastien's wife's sudden death and he must swear to keep it a secret while he navigates their way back to their family, against the elements and the fragility of the human mind.
