Summary
The year is 1717, cell phones exist, and the attack on the Republic of Pirates has failed.
Friend and foe alike banded together to beat back the English navy, earning themselves another day of freedom. But now, as the Republic finds itself in a unique position between the English and the Spanish, choices must be made about which direction they want to go. Stede Bonnet, somehow, finds himself at the center of an upwelling of hope, and the desire for change that has being brewing in the Republic of Pirates.
Meanwhile, all is not well aboard the Revenge. In the aftermath of the murder attempt against Edward, no one knows how to even begin to unfuck the dynamics that have entrenched themselves. All the while, a figure from Lucius' past has reappeared, but what he's after is anyone's guess.
The crew of the Revenge must grapple with the things they have done if they are ever going to find a way forward.
A socmed action romantic comedy about the choices a community must make, and the mess of trying to make things right.

Summary
Ned gets this way about certain victims—feelings claw their way out of him, telling him, this one; this one might survive you.
Izzy's looking up at him, defiant, and Ned tells himself the man will break like the rest of them.
It doesn't mean anything.

"Well. I had a bit of a question about some of the personnel changes you made in my absence. Who's the odd fellow who joined the crew? The one in silver."
Stede watched Ed's hand twitch around the ropes; watched as Ed failed to instantly turn with that bright smile.
Stede finds Edward, and all is well.
He tells himself that.

Summary
"The worst was already done, you were dead! Buried in the front yard like a dog!"
"Oh yeah?" Izzy snapped, spiteful. "And is the grave still fucking there? Did you bother to fucking tell them that I'm alive, or are they still mourning over an empty fucking hole in the ground?"
After Izzy Hands is dead and buried, the crew finds a way to bring him back. Separated from Edward, Izzy figures out who he is without him.

Summary
“Look at you,” Ned said in a low register that rose the hair on Stede’s neck.
He looked so powerful, standing above Stede with his silver hair glowing under the chandelier’s golden light.
It wasn’t that Stede was having second thoughts—it was just that he may have bitten off more than he could chew, as it were.
For the first time, Stede indulges Ned's sadism.

Summary
There’s a laugh.
Short and not all that loud, but it carries clear across the coffee shop to where Izzy stands at the counter waiting for his order. The laugh is sweet and almost musical and makes Izzy feel like a thunderclap just went off in his rib cage. He knows that laugh.
Except no, he doesn’t.

Izzy is being haunted by someone he doesn't even know. Or does he? A Stede/Izzy-centric Steddyhands reincarnation AU.

On the Subject of Noncon Fanworks: Thoughts of a Reader, Writer, Survivor by Anarfea

Summary
This is the first of a series of essays I wish to write on the Gender Politics of Sherlock fandom. There are many things I wanted to say at the official panel but was unable to, since it was derailed by a group of individuals who showed up with the intention of intimidating and harassing the panel moderator. In future essays, I’d like to share my thoughts on femslash, Mary Sues and the fridging of female characters, on heteronormativity in slash, and on queer representation beyond slash (bisexual, pansexual, asexual and trans people in fanworks and fan spaces). I’d like to touch on race and being a queer Woman of Color in a fandom mostly interested in White male characters.
Before I get to those subjects, however, I feel a need to return to the original intended topic: the essay I began writing on my phone on the plane.
And that essay is on the subject of noncon fanworks.

Profoundly articulate discussion on the value of darkfic that helped me fully understand my own perspective.
