“What?” Will looks down at him, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

“What do you mean no?” Will asks, his expression changing from confusion to something that almost looks like shock.
“I- sorry, yeah I’ll- I’ll help.” He replies, shaking his head, in disbelief that he couldn't even last ten seconds before immediately caving and doing as Will asked.
“Wow.” Max scoffs in amusement, clapping her hands dramatically. “Look at that Wheeler, you almost did it, you almost said no to Will. Very proud.” She sarcastically praises.

But every time, his hope was brought down just as quickly, crushed by something Mike said or did that made it painfully clear he was not queer.Mike was his Tammy. The straight boy he could never have.
And just like Robin, Will would eventually find someone else. Someone who liked him back just as much as he liked them. Someone who didn’t make him question every smile, every word, every accidental brush of fingers.
Will was only nineteen. There was plenty of time to meet someone else. Plenty of time to get over a stupid crush on his best friend.
At least, that was what he kept telling himself.
Because how long could a crush even last, really.
It had already been seven years.
It was ridiculous.

Will seems to be so independant, flamboyent, self accepting, finally proud to be who he is,thriving in his adulthood. "Shit, sorry,” the boy mutters, already crouching down to pick up his books. When he straightens back up and takes out his headphones, Will is able to get a better look at the person standing in front of him. He’s maybe 4 inches taller, with deep chocolate eyes and a freckle-covered face.
A voice snaps him out of his thoughts, “I’m Mike. Mike Wheeler.”
Will just stares at him in awe, trying to shake off the feeling of butterflies in his stomach. His palms feel weirdly sweaty.
“I’m Will,” he manages to get out, “Will Byers.”
“Cool…” Mike says, studying him for a second longer than seems necessary. “Well, see you around.”
“See you...” Will mutters as Mike walks away.
