“Your memories may be blurry from what I’m told, but they have been copied from your last transfer in your avatar, before you decided to betray us all.”
Wait.
Time out.
What?
“You are now a recombinant, corporal; the only reason the powers deemed reasonable to bring you back despite your treason is because of your knowledge on the Na’vi. You will obey to Colonel Quaritch. If you fail, you’re dead.”

His mother’s voice sounded far away but close at the same time. He hadn’t thought of her in years. Or well, the other Jake hadn’t.

Grian sits on the cot. He hugs his knees to his chest, arms curled around his legs, and he watches as Blink looks down at his laptop. Blink, who is in the chair that has been set up just in front of the door. Blink, who is keeping an eye on him.
Or, Grian doesn’t know why he’s here. Here, as in the Lifers’ safe house under their protection, but also here, as in, alive. But he is, and he doesn’t know what to do with that. Especially when the Lifers are kinder than anyone has been to him in a long, long time.

Summary
Harry tore his eyes away from the man on the catwalk. The merry party of wizards were advancing on him with Moody at the helm, leaving Uncle Vernon to smoulder a few metres away. He was asked if he was ready to go, which he didn't respond to. He simply let Moody's gnarly, root-like hand clamp onto his shoulder and lead him away.
They followed all the way to Uncle Vernon's Mercedes. Some of them gave Harry hugs while other whispered reassurances that they'd see each other again soon. That the weeks would fly by and that they would come to get him before he knew it. But Harry knew very well that he was doomed. He knew that this would be the last he ever saw of any of them.

Here, living with Dursleys that aren't just neglectful but outright abusive made Harry unable to withstand more than a few weeks of Trelawney's "predictions" back in his third year. Instead, he took Ancient Runes, and uncovered that he had a prodigious knack for runic magic, which opened the door to the darkest of rituals and the magic of mind and soul. A year later, Harry uncovered something horrible within himself - a parasite.
So, when Voldemort sends him dreams of corridors and doors, Harry sends him pieces of hell in return.

Summary
Simon returns as a ghost and begins haunting COI. Ava comes face to face with her own frail mortality, her mind decaying along her DNA. After finding out that the black box Simon managed to save is too badly irradiated to get any kind of information out of, Ava has to send yet another convict down, to make sure that Simon did not die for nothing. Down below a God lies waiting.
This is a dissection of what the fear does to the mind. Desperation, resilience, cruelty, kindness, despair and hope are all found here.This is a tragedy and it ends tragically. I attempted treating Ava as human as Simon, painting them both with terrible mistakes and attempts at fortitude.

Summary

When given a choice between all he's ever known, and the wilderness beyond it, Hiccup chooses the latter. Now, five years later, he has abandoned humanity, mimicking the behaviours of his brother - Toothless - and the rest of their flock. Content to leave his entire childhood in the past, Hiccup is dragged back into fifteen years of unpleasant memories when his peers from Berk crash into his new home. He soon finds his allegiances split between the new life he has built for himself, and the one he abandoned.
Berk is starving, plagued by constant dragon raids and empty seas. The heir to the chiefdom, Astrid, leads the expedition to find the famed dragon master, and beg for his help in stopping the raids. Little does she know, behind the mask, is somebody she's been mourning for years.

Simon’s heart freezes. “W-What?”
“We tried to pull you out,” Ava repeats, the words shaky and uncertain for once. “And we couldn’t."

Summary
Eventually, Simon opens his eyes.
He was drowning, he's pretty sure – but this isn't the first time his brain has been fucked with since he allowed himself to be welded into this death-tube. At least this time, he's not vomiting up blood on the floor of the sub.
He's not sure where he is, though. It looks like the inside of the sub, still, but everything is tinged red and his vision's a bit wobbly, like he's peering through water. He's sprawled on the floor with his back against the camera controls, and the navigation panel is obscured by something that looks like a thicket of branches that wavers in his unsteady view.
Also, there's a dog sitting on the floor in front of him.

Just as he finished setting up the link, the screen flashed a few times before going dark. The buzz of the pod sputtered to a stop, like an old truck on its last few miles of life. Not a healthy comparison.
Jake frowned, but before he could even think to whack some sense back into the machine, the lights came back on, and all the link data came rushing back to the screen.
Okay, then.
He glanced wearily over his shoulder, almost expecting Norm to appear out of nowhere to tell him he’d set the machine up wrong. He knows he did it right - but it’d never done that, before.
