SEASON 2 FINAE SPOILERS (the story starts taking place at the end of the episode.)
Clay Jensen, with a well-intended and good heart, is shot dead by Tyler Down. He was going to do what he was supposed to, what Hannah wanted—help the struggling, but his body was laying on the concrete sidewalk, the colorful lights of a school dance emanating on his face, choking on his own blood with a bullet wound to the neck.
It wasn’t his time yet. He wakes up in Jessica’s room the night of her party with the chance to do what he was supposed to and make things right.
OR:
Tyler kills Clay at the end of the season 2 finale, and Clay wakes up the night of Jessica’s party in the room with Hannah.

He watches Connor with fondness as the android’s eyes move beneath his eyelids. Another effect of the upgrade - it kind of freaked him out as first, androids having REM sleep - he wonders what he’s dreaming about.
This is what, the third time he’s fallen asleep at work? Or, sorry, ‘gone into stasis.’ He’s adamant at correcting him with that one. Most androids going into stasis just sit there all creepily. This shit? Snoring, talking in his sleep, dreaming - that’s sleeping. Hank will fight him on that.
