Summary
Dean never expected that he'd be best friends with, of all things, an elf. After all, he's a half-orc raised by his human father.
But when he met Cas, Cas had feathers. And fur. Dean might be a little weird himself, but Cas is the one who wanders around with the face of an owl, the body of a bear... and also antlers, because he's just really freakin' over the top that way.
Then again, the furry bastard sort of saved Dean's life. So there's that.
But war changes them all.
War changes everything.

That right?" The man--Benny?--doesn’t wait for confirmation before continuing. "I'm supposed to tell you he's fine, just, something came up."
Castiel frowns. "Is there a reason he's not telling me this himself?"
There's a beat of a pause. A thump, thump of heavy footsteps. A staticky scrape. Something beeps in the background. Then: "He said to tell you he's fine."
Benny’s not even pretending this is something he wants to say, though.

Dean Winchester never wanted to wear a crown. He had no idea that he even could. It wasn't until the Campbell royals all got themselves assassinated by demons that he and Sam found out that King Samuel was actually their grandfather, and well, shit.
But Dean was a soldier before he was anything else. So maybe that's why he'll do anything to stop this awful demon war—anything. Even try to make an alliance with the angels.
They think they're gonna scare him off by telling him he's gotta be magically married—okay, okay, handfasted, but call it what it is—to some snooty noble angel for a whole year? They think Dean's gonna back out because the angels want him to be handfasted not to a proper princess, oh no, but to a prince?

Dean was a virgin sacrifice. Only not like that. Everyone always assumed he was gonna have his throat slit or something like it was the freaking Stone Age. It wasn't Dean being sacrificed, just his virginity, alright? The village would pick a stag king to represent the worldly side of things, and the goddess would pick a body to possess for the fertility ritual. Anyone who was 18 or older and still a virgin could be chosen. Truth be told, nobody thought Dean would get this far with all his cherries, but hey, how often did a guy get an opportunity to bag a goddess? He figured it was worth the wait.

Profound Bond Gift Exchange: Hot Entity Summer! A magic/ritual AU where the ritual goes wrong, Dean ends up the cutest squirrel ever, and Cas is the absolute best of gentle souls in the face of what could have been a very bad situation indeed. Cas asks at some point how he ended up a Disney princess, and considering that he has a squirrel helping him plant seeds, he is not WRONG; it is adorable. Feel-good and sweet and achy all at turns, with delightful twists!

PB Gift Exchange #3: the most absolutely adorable fairy-tale style Dragon!Cas, Sassy Human!Dean story: they're so good to each other, and this is possibly my favorite way I've ever seen roommates to friends to lovers written. Technically. You know what I mean. Cas is such a grump (the descriptions of him laughing warm my heart every single time) and they care about each other SO much!

Castiel has never wanted an angel.
He does just fine on his own, has for a long time—since he was old enough to hold a shotgun and make a salt circle. He’s proud of what he’s been able to achieve without angelic help, and the longer he can keep hunting solo, the better.
But judging by the summons he’s just received to the Men of Letters’ bunker, his time is up.
He can’t avoid his future angel partner any longer.
(aka. five times that Dean saves Castiel's life, and five times that Castiel slowly learns angels aren't as bad as he'd thought)
