Dean wants to be furious that Cas has figured it out before he has—whatever it is—but he's not even that surprised. Cas knows him too well, always has, even more than Dean knows himself. He's been kicking Dean in the goddamn teeth with how deeply he understands him, even about the things Dean doesn't, ever since they first met. You don't think you deserve to be saved, that's what Cas had said. All bundled up in impossibilities and power, this being that looked at Dean Winchester and knew every single inch of him, as if he had a right to each part.

It only took a few minutes to see the empire he built with his sweat and tears transforming itself into ashes. Receiving the news from the hospital should’ve been the happiest moment of his life, but this illusion faded away as the crimson eyes looked at him with confusion, breaking Izuku’s heart on the spot :
“I think you mistook me with the wrong person. I don’t know any Kacchan and I don’t remember meeting you before. What’s your name ?”
The freckled man didn’t know it yet, but the journey to rebuild this trust with this childhood friend would be more complicated than he expected. Between heartbreaking revelations, tears, confusion, and confessions, these naive adventures became the most touching stories about how two souls succeeded in finding love at their lowest.
Or: Katsuki became the target of an amnesia quirk, forgetting about his childhood friend’s existence. Izuku found himself devasted by the news but held his pain under fake smiles as he welcomed this new version of his boyfriend by his side. If the blond started to have some curiosity about the relevance of the teacher’s narrative, the freckled man started to drown himself between his desire for revenge and justice for those stolen memories.

Summary
After the events of War Crimes, Sokka and Zuko have escaped Zhao’s warship and are fleeing across the Earth Kingdom. As well as unfamiliar terrain, they have to navigate their shared trauma, work out where they fit into the war, and their place in each others lives.
Sokka is aware that being friends with the enemy is going to bring complications, but he probably should have guessed that being friends with Zuko in particular, was going to be a bit like dunking your head repeatedly into a bucket of angry Fire Ferrets.
Katara is also grappling with the confusion of befriending an enemy, something that doesn’t prove as difficult as she had expected with the bond of shared, furious grief bridging old wounds. (Learning a new way to look at her bending doesn't hurt either)
Azula, struggling with the Fire Lord’s mistrust, encounters a few nasty surprises and has to make some difficult decisions. Luckily, she is a great deal better at making sensible choices than her brother.
Her father may have made a slight tactical error.

In a warring land, the Water Tribe forgave the enemy in an act of defiance. For this, he was torn from them, and this time, his wounds won't heal so easily.
Forced back into nothing but survival, the last person Zuko expected to see was Hakoda's son. Hakoda was a promise of safety. The relentless blue of Sokka’s eyes was a promise of happiness. Zuko could have both if he just reached out his hands, but he found them clutching into fists. After all, he’d been burned one too many times.
But hey, at least between Hakoda and Sokka, Zuko could appreciate the family resemblance of pure, asinine stubbornness.
