Max Mayfield is trying (and failing) to mind her own business, Jane Hopper is falling harder than she realises, and everyone is lying about something - mostly to themselves.
No monsters this time, just feelings. Which might be worse?

Summary
Will was crammed into the tiny, pitch-black closet, sweat dampening his hair and clinging to his T-shirt. Just when he was sure Carlton wasn’t coming - when he’d already sworn off parties forever - the door creaked open and someone slipped inside.
Lips crashed into his, urgent. His first kiss was...messy.
Will barely had time to react before he was shoved back - and the guy bolted.

The lock snapped shut.
“Hey!” Will pounded on the door. Silence. “You’ve gotta be kidding me-”
Will tripped over something. He reached down to see what it was.

During summer break, back from their first year of college and totally broke, Will had picked up a gig at Surfer Boy Pizza, Mike at Scoops Ahoy. After Mike found out about Carlton, he told himself he was just being a good friend - just helping Will get it right. Showing him what to do. Summary
“Why? Why won’t you ever tell me what’s wrong with you?” Carlton’s voice is filled with frustration, and it sounds like nails on a chalkboard to Will.
What is wrong with him. It’s such a loaded question. Why does Will wake up screaming sometimes? Why can’t Will handle the cold? Why are there days when Carlton’s hands on him feel like being kept under water with no way up?
And why can’t Will tell Carlton the truth? How could Will possibly explain it without sounding insane? What is the human translation for being taken and kept in another dimension, violated, and possessed, only to then be violated yet again—
This part of him is something Will is never going to be able to share with anyone else. That nobody would understand.
Why won’t you tell me what’s wrong with you.
“Because you wouldn’t get it.” Will somehow manages to say it without gagging.
And then, Carlton goes in for the kill.
“Oh, but Mike does?”

After leaving Hawkins to go to college in the great city of San Franscisco, Will finally finds someone who loves him. The only problem is that the only person in the world who knows him, is someone else.

Summary
For the past two years, Micheal Wheeler hasn't usually let himself feel things.
Obviously, he has feelings. He loves his friends, he likes El, he appreciates his family. But he’s been hiding that feeling for so long that he almost forgot it existed.

Continues immediately after the events of season 5 episode 7. Basically the finale, but written by someone who actually cares about queer representation. Mike did NOT deserve that absolute assassination and I WILL be doing him right.
In other words, a fix-it fic based on my last byler theory on my YouTube channel (@i.dontknowhowtodance, the period is IMPORTANT), in which we get a Mike-central finale where byler is canon. I do want to clarify I only watched the finale once and I refuse to watch it again so I might get some plot points wrong but you guys don't care anyway because no one likes the finale.

Until the new model arrives.

“I bet your boyfriend's funny, huh?” he said, before he could stop himself. His eyes flicked back to the piece of jewellery on Will’s neck. “Nice necklace by the way.”
Will froze.
Mike wasn’t stupid. He knew it wasn’t just a necklace. It was a signal. A claim.
Six years after everything, Mike Wheeler has built a life of routine and avoidance, convincing himself that silence is the same as healing. Will Byers has done the opposite – he’s left, grown, and learned to love without apology.
When they meet again at Lucas and Max’s wedding, the truth Mike has spent years avoiding, finally demands to be faced – especially when he sees Will with someone else.
As he finds out, sometimes yearning doesn’t fade with time. It grows, until punches are thrown.

“It doesn’t matter if it takes a hundred more crawls,” Mike says, planting his hands against the table. “A thousand! We don’t stop until we’re goddamn sure that wrinkled, rotting, noseless bastard is dead and gone and never coming back.”
Will’s smiling, now, looking reassured. And Mike’s saying it for El’s sake, but also Will’s. Max’s. Eddie’s, too. Everyone who’s been hurt by this monster, who won’t be able to sleep at night with even the slimmest chance that he might still be out there.
He has to do something. And until there’s a better plan, or more information to go off of, this is the only option.
He puts his hand out above the table. “Everyone in?”
Lucas, looking determined, slaps his palm on top of Mike’s. Then Will. Then, when there’s only one of them left, they turn to look at Dustin.
Dustin’s mouth twitches to the side. His torn Hellfire shirt ripples in the late-autumn breeze. “I want to see Vecna’s heart on a platter,” he says. His voice is low, almost scarily detached. Like he has nothing left to lose. “Just wish I could do it myself.”
