Summary
It’s only right, Ash thinks, that he gets to ask this now, when everything around them feels commonplace. They’ve had enough of the opposite. Ash wants to bask in the mundane with Eiji, to have everything with him after everything. He still isn’t used to this, to quiet nights with each other without the catch, without fearing that something bad is waiting for them tomorrow. But he’s trying to get used to it, because Eiji tells him to. This is our life now, there’s nothing to fear anymore.

Summary
There should be confrontation, rolling tears, sand caught between the cracks of their smiles. There should be answers handed out like festival candy, treasured and sweet -- there’s a perfectly good reason as to why Ash faked his own death, and he’d tell Eiji, and Eiji would let his anger dissipate like the muddy shore beneath their soles. They’d be happy. They’d be relieved.
There should be more than what is given.
“What was the reason this time?”
The past is a fleeting little thing; even Orpheus looked back.

Summary
“I didn’t mean to -,” he added hurriedly, wiping his runny nose with the back of his hand. “I can go back. I’ll ask Max to wire me some m-money and I’ll go back t-tomorrow.”
“I don’t want you to leave.” It didn’t sound like a lie but Ash still searched brown eyes for confirmation. “I’d like you to stay forever.”
Forever. There it was that word again, giving birth to unsustainable hope Ash knew he had to let go sooner or later. It was only a matter of time until Eiji was going to realize he was a lost case, too.
But until then, he was allowed to feel a little bit of whatever that was that took over him whenever he was in the elder boy’s presence. He did not expect to sound so vulnerable when he asked Eiji if he’d lie down with him, nor did he see the relief from being held impossibly tight coming.
He had almost forgotten the way his head fit perfectly in the crook of Eiji’s neck.
