Not that it’s working—Natalie just moves, rings clinking and clanging with every tiny motion, obnoxiously loud in the quiet space. Jackie’s eyes flick to them, drawn in like a crow spotting something shiny.

Lottie turns Jackie’s head towards her, ignoring the huffed growl that leaves Shauna’s lips. “This has nothing to do with her,” Lottie murmurs raspily. “And this has nothing to do with him.” She lets go of Jackie, going over to Travis and pushing him into the pantry. He goes willingly, not even attempting a fight, leaning against the ladder. “Good boy.”
