Shepherd is doing... fine. His town is thriving, his son is thriving. He's fine. Really. He gets invited back to Barovia for a wedding, and really nothing should be wrong. Why won't this stupid, hot vampire stop flirting with him.

Escher is doing... pretty great actually! He's got a castle, a daughter and a life away from his past. It's not perfect but honestly he isn't doing too bad. What is too bad is the fact that this hot, fiery cowboy seems to hate him for no reason. -

(Lethica had joined the Cult of Shar to be rid of her tragic and painful past. Somehow, hundreds of years later and several realms removed from Avantris, it finds her anyway.)

This is a softer retelling of Legends of Avantris' series 'Curse of Strahdanya' of course with a retelling there are twists and variations. But at the end of the day this is a love letter to the original series, seeking to retell it with a softer end[and a slowburn romance]

He grapples with his secret grief over someone who was a brother, friend, and something more. Someone makes him an offer that gets him to calm his restless heart, and gives him exactly what he needs to pull himself out of the darkness.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE CURSE OF STRAHD/EPISODE 21!!!
In retrospect, Shepherd should have known Sarnax was preparing something. Or that he knew something. But he hadn't wanted to believe it.
Though, staring now at the flames of Barovia in the distance all around Castle Ravenloft with a tear running down his face, he supposed it didn’t matter. It wouldn’t have made things any easier.Nothing would have made this easier.
He knew Sarnax wasn’t making it out of that alive, but perhaps some stupid part of him still held hope that he would have somehow done it. That somehow Garyx would have spared Sarnax - maybe seen his devotion and rewarded him.
But that was a stupid thought. Sarnax had chosen to die there. He knew what he was getting himself into. Garyx would honor that.He was almost beginning to believe that they could all head home together.
Some part of him was still wishing for that future.
No- that was a lie. A large part of him was still desperately wishing for that future.(Maybe, just maybe, he’d get it)
