Three steps, when just yesterday he would have needed to ask Scott for a shirt to borrow and company to entertain so he could scrub his clothes in the lake behind the Cabin.
The contrast is funny. Almost. It has the potential to be, if Etho could work his tongue around a joke over the joys of a materialistic life.
Etho awakes on Hermitcraft unprepared for the whiplash that comes after losing his last life in Past Life.

Summary
In which Joel is the crown Prince, heir to the throne, and Etho is an assassin, sent to kill him by a neighbouring kingdom. His plot fails and Joel lives. When caught, Etho is arrested but before he can be sentenced to death for conspiracy against the crown, Joel begs for Etho's life to be spared, so they send him away to work in the battalion army, and Joel doesn't hear from him again.

~~~Joel's parents are dead, and with war threats from all sides, Joel is to be coronated and married as quickly as possible to secure his leadership of the Kingdom. However, with threats of war comes threats of assassination, and Joel is assigned a bodyguard, a 'specialist protector'. Little does he know that this 'specialist' is the same guy who tried to kill him 7 years ago.

Grian watched as Etho pushed his headband up, revealing a piercing, blood-red eye with black markings entwined through it. Etho raised his hands shoulder width apart, and Grian could only stare as bright blue and black lightning danced between his palms, forming an electrifying line between them.
As quicky as the lightning had appeared it vanished, and Etho pulled his headband over his left eye once again. Grian just gaped. Gem lightly punched Grian's arm, giggling.

The kitten was gray with white stripes that were more frequent and prominent around his forehead. Like a crown almost.
What stood out to Bdubs however were the kitten’s eyes. One black eye and one red eye with one of the white stripes of fur going down across the eye. Eyes that he knew very very well.
