Merlin’s been in town a year or so and knows he’s starting to like Arthur as more than a friend, but he also knows he can’t do anything about it. The man is a prince and he’s not shown any signs he likes Merlin back, so he simply resigns himself to be Arthur’s guardian instead. Things do not go as planned when he ends up saving Arthur’s life one night from a failed assignation attempt. When he’s later hiding an injury from that adventure, and needing to accompany Arthur on a trip outside of Camelot, he finds it’s a struggle to keep any form of a secret from Arthur, injury or magic alike.
