It's told from the perspective of a Redguard from Hammerfell named Tristan Graves, who happens to be a bard on his way to the college at Solitude. His close friend and fellow bard Lore went on ahead of him, but turned back and warned him not to attempt the trip. But our protagonist is not one who is in the habit of listening to warnings.
