Apart from some minor scuff marks and scratches marring their features, they seemed in decent shape, ready to attack in a moment’s notice. Yet their forms were sloppy. Amateurish. The weapons held by three of the four were stolen from Draxum’s stash, which Leo knew only because he’d originally stolen them in the first place.

    Little details that paled in comparison to one glaring thing.

    Oh, Leo thought. They survived.

    “It has been a long time since a sick little turtle has called for me,” Splinter murmured, stroking Blue’s forehead around the bandages. “Normally you are all ready to fight each other to the death to monopolize Red’s attention.”

    It was only partly a joke. Leonardo gazed up at him, eyes glassy. It was hard to gauge how much of their conversation was sticking the landing and how much was somersaulting straight over his sluggish head.

    Then Leonardo said, “He hates me.”

    “Pardon?” Splinter said stupidly.

    His son blinked, and finally fat tears rolled down his cheeks, soaking into bandages on one side, unchecked on the other.

    “He hates me,” Blue insisted. “He’s right. It was my fault.”

    Raphael was trembling, already tearing up again. He was shaking with the force of his growl, and his eyes only seemed to sharpen when they locked with Splinter's.

    Leonardo's snarling had been in-the-moment, defensive paranoia. Splinter was interchangeable from everyone else— all he had wanted was to get away, to hide, not to hurt. Raphael knew exactly who he was looking at, and he was furiously protective anyway.

    He was not afraid to hurt him if he had to, to protect the boys that it had always been Splinter's duty to protect.

    Splinter could not help but feel like he had done something irreconcilably wrong.

    (or: the boys are hit by pollen that heightens their paranoia. to take care of them, splinter is forced to confront some uncomfortable truths about them; and more importantly, about himself.)

    four boys all needing a new start get it in a way that helps them all. Ghost king Danny makes the observants demand clockwork take danny out of the timeline. Accused of being a dark wizard, Harry is pushed through the veil. Lincoln Loud just wants to go somewhere he can be something other than 'the only boy' and 'bad luck.' Izuku Midoriya has given everything he is to stop Shigaraki, and none of the vestiges are happy about that, including the one that has been in hiding, the one with the ‘stockpile’ meta ability. They are the one most able to allow access to the abilities in their meta ability, including all of the ones stolen by All For One, who also has a vestige. New game plus allows for a start over, and searching for a way to help Izuku, drags a certain rat who won’t question another turtle. 2003 Splinter awakes in the BNHA world, with all eight sons having always been there and shrugs it off as ‘misremembering’ having moved back to Japan and the extra turtles? Clearly, he miscounted in his pre-mutation brain.’

    And Donatello decided that, no, he doesn’t mind— not as much as he used to, not as much as he’s supposed to. He’d do anything to gain a sense of normalcy, caters to just about anything that resembles even a fragment of his old life. Just anything that he can get for not having to acknowledge the world as it is now.

    He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t even have to be fond of the idea either, but it’s out of sheer desperation that that made him commit to whatever shenanigans his younger brother wish. After all, he’d rather have this than when Mikey would hiss and growl, or those moments where he’d have his claws out, or those moments where Donnie would fight tooth and nail to get him out of a cage only for the younger to race back in.

    That, Donatello decided, his heart couldn’t take.

    This Mikey was much more childish than Master Michelangelo. It made sense, as Mikey was much younger than Casey himself. The human chuckled, eyes shining with pride.
    "Ah, no... You opened a portal-"

    Donnie choked on the cake he had been eating. April quickly started patting his back.

    Raph had dropped his plate in shock, and Leo looked horrified, suddenly having a death grip on Mikey's hands. 

    Casey frowned.

    "...What?"

    (He missed praise. He missed turtle piles, and pizza weeks, and movie nights where they watched his favorites and actually engaged with them. He missed karaoke and DDR and biweekly Powerpoint nights where he deliberately picked the most moronic topic to rant about like a madman, just to revel in the sound of Leo shrieking with laughter.

    And God, he missed S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N, so so much. Something had broken in him when he’d found his AI chip in the rubble, unsalvageable. Something about the grief of it all had made everything feel worthless. Even if he yearned for it—that didn’t really matter anymore, did it? It was gone.)

    Separated as freshly mutated baby turtles, Leo (aka X, aka Experiment Alpha 002-2) is raised by the great and powerful Baron Draxum, to be the warrior he was designed to be.

    A few years later, when Splinter's three sons are turtle tots, their father reveals to them that a fourth brother perished in a fire; and Donnie tells his dad that he dreamed about this fourth turtle.

    Fast forward to the present, the three turtles are bumbling teenage ninjas who get in the way of the powerful Draxum. His ninja assassin is ordered to deal with the medddlers, and during combat the caped, masked ninja is surprised to discover the mutant turtle from his childhood dreams is not only real, but also his very own brother.

    X wants to draw close to his brothers, but the slider's only father-figure wants them dead, after they refuse to join him and subsequently destroy his lab.

    Thrown in the middle of two worlds, will X carry out the will of his master, or will the lives of his family be precious in his eyes?

    Also, as time progresses Leo must find the answer to some hard-hitting questions, such as: Who can he trust? Who is steeping him in a cesspool of lies and deception? And...

    Where will his loyalties lie?
