Lewis Hamilton strode toward him, sunglasses perched on his curls, grin wide and full of easy mischief. He wore his usual branded gear, but something in the way he moved told Sebastian that today wasn’t just another workday. There was pride in the way he approached, a sort of satisfaction.
“I didn’t think you’d actually come,” Lewis said, pulling him into a quick, friendly hug.
“You invited me,” Sebastian replied, chuckling. “And you’ve been bothering me for months to see this side of the circus. I figured it was time I stopped saying no.”

Objectively, Oscar knew that he was welcome in the designated Pack Room. Even if Mark hadn’t walked him through the dynamics of the Paddock Pack himself before sending Oscar off to pre-season testing, it had been in the official debrief that the McLaren Team had given him, as well as the less-than-official debrief Lando had subjected him to shortly thereafter.
Because the Paddock Pack was always open to any driver – past or present – should they choose to join.
But, on a very personal level, Oscar was afraid. Afraid that the other drivers still harboured some secret, vile resentment towards him for how he’d entered the sport. Terrified that they wouldn’t welcome him, when he was responsible for pushing such a beloved driver out. Frightened of rejection, when he was so desperately craving connection.

“FUCK!” Max screamed as he punched the wall with all his might. Pain immediately shot up through his arm and he winced, cursing underneath his breath and cradling his arm close to his body.
“Godverdomme,” he cursed as he began to inspect his hand. The knuckles had some torn skin and it started to trickle a little bit of blood out of the open wounds. He lightly squeezed his wrist and he winced slightly; the pain was most definitely still there. Max brought his arm back and sighed heavily, slumping down on the floor in defeat.
