Summary

Summary
Five years post a world war, the former sailor turned alcoholic PI Link Coutts and his snarky assistant Midna Dahl are tasked by Daphnes Nohansen with finding his missing daughter Zelda, whose disappearance comes following her auction win of an eerie, talking mirror piece. The mirror's strange powers and abilities to open portals to dark realms pits the three against adversaries looking to seize the mirror pieces for their own twisted desires.
“Why do this?" Groose asks. "Your weirdo interests aren’t just weird. That mirror is downright creepy.”
Now it’s Link’s turn to fall silent and take too long to answer, but he wonders if Groose would get it. “Don’t make fun of me,” Link bites.
“Who? Me?” feigns Groose.
Link lowers his voice. Midna isn’t one to purposefully eavesdrop, but she’d definitely never let him live it down if she hears him admit this about Zelda. “Can’t explain it, but I just have this crazy feeling that I know her. Like for a really long time, and… I don’t know, we’re just picking up where we left off?” He swallows. “Gods know from when. Groose, I am so sick of feeling like every day is some episode of déjà vu.”
“Maybe you’re the weirdo interest,” Groose says.

Link comes across an unconscious Kafei just minutes before Termina's destruction. This anachronism disrupts the flow of time and its preceding events. Kafei had no purpose to be at Clock Tower the third night, or so Link thought, while Kafei believes he's seen the Hero before. Mayor Dotour's son cannot recall his memories of him.
They're left to pick up the pieces. In the end, Link attains an understanding of "grown-up" matters after all. (Link/Kafei) (Kafei/Anju)

It's also canon to my stupidly complicated AU
The war takes place over a year and a half, and Tune and Mask remain for 6 months after the war ends. Mask is brought in near the very beginning and Tune is brought in after the first year of the war. Also since I haven't played Hyrule Warriors, can't find any 'story explained' videos, and haven't watched gameplay, I'll be pulling any battles and relationship dynamics out of my ass.
