Only to end up waking inside of Shadow Milk Cookie's body when he opens his eyes! He'll have to raise their affection meters to gain the hidden ending for the Beast of Deceit while avoiding death flags!

He marveled at the way the boy’s shirt clung to him, wrinkled and stained, the faint line of sweat at his collar, the slackness of muscles that had forgotten discipline. It should have been foul. Instead, Pure Vanilla’s chest swelled with glee, the corners of his mouth tugging higher. Every unwashed strand of hair, every dish left to mold, every hour spent inert in that bed—it was all testament. Testament that he had been right to watch, so right to never let him go.
This was not ugliness. His darling’s self imposed ruin made space for salvation.

Long ago, there were the five Virtues: Gods and ageless cookies who lived long before the start of Crispia. The virtues were all special, within their own rights. The Virtue of Volition, Knowledge, Change, Happiness, and Solidarity.
But they faded. Broke. Changed into monsters, Beasts that brought nothing but death, harm and fear. And so, they were trapped by the Witches.
And New Virtues—Ancients, rose. The Ancients of Resolution, Truth, Abundance, Passion, and Freedom. But the Ancients suffered, trying to defeat their Beasts, their other halves…
And still Came out victorious.
But with this, came a price for the Beasts. They became weakened. Frail, without the power of the soul jam. Even without half of it, it weakened them.
White Lily noticed this with her own Beast. And while she knew she couldn’t face her past friends and fellow Ancients… She had a plan. A plan to redeem the rest of the Beasts, bring them to their former glory in a different way.

But harmless.” He gave a faint, amused shake of his head. “Of course, one of my friends noticed. She has always been sharp about such things.”
Shadow Milk’s thoughts spiraled, frantic, catching and tearing on themselves. Why am I hearing this?..'
“She urged me to stop denying myself. To stop being so… restrictive.” Pure Vanilla’s smile warmed, serene as ever. “She said I should go for it. And she offered, so kindly, to fetch you herself.”
The final words crashed against him, every syllable a tightening rope. His skin prickled cold.

Or, Shadow Milk learned too young what it meant to carry the weight of others, having already burned through his childhood. When he wakes in a room of gold and silk, he realizes there are cruelties worse than neglect in the cradle of his gentle, soft-spoken captor, who is certain of the life they will share together.

Portalling himself away to die in a cursed forest was not intentional, but certainly a choice that would benefit him in the long run.

“All of this—” Fingertips moved over the love handles, to the hip where they squeezed in admiration. “—was made to be held.”
