Most importantly: Katsuki can’t find out.
What sweet Deku didn’t account for, however, "Kacchan Bakugo" has always been far too observant when it comes to him.
He notices the dark circles, the flinching, the way Izuku’s hands shake after training. And once Katsuki realizes something is wrong, he refuses to let it go.
Izuku does his best to deny everything and avoid him — though that becomes a lot harder when even his quirk decides to act up against his will.Eventually, Katsuki corners him after another uncontrolled outburst, demanding fucking answers.

Katsuki stares at him, taking in the sight of Izuku in his pajamas and shivering like crazy with bloodshot eyes and disheveled hair. He frowns.
He’s too smart not to immediately realize Izuku isn’t coming from his bedroom, and slowly, silently, takes in the horrible looks of him from head to toe. He’s not okay – but he didn’t come for me this time?
Dark bags under his eyes, pale face, shuddering body. A wave of deep worry hits Katsuki like a truck, and he leaves the damn breakfast behind to approach and reach for Izuku, meaning to pull him into a warm embrace like he’s often taken to doing – he looks like he needs one.
But Izuku immediately flinches away.
Alternatively: Izuku has bad nightmares about the War and doesn't know how to cope. He relies on Katsuki for comfort for a while, until one nightmare about his death makes him decide to put his distance between the two of them. As it turns out, Katsuki doesn't know how to cope with that either, and trouble only increases when Izuku accidentally hurts Katsuki during a UA training.

Izuku braced himself against the wall. “Why are you doing this?” He sounded wounded—he felt wounded.

“Torturing me,” he croaked, resting his forehead against the cool shower tile and silently begging for his torment to end.
Kacchan was giving him glimpses of what he’d never have: careful touches, falling asleep in loving arms, being loved unconditionally, being seen for who he truly was, and being loved for who he was. And it was killing him.

Or, shortly after being discharged from the hospital, Izuku wakes Katsuki up with a bad migraine. Katsuki plays nurse as best he can with one functioning arm and a weak heart. As the days pass and Izuku fails to get better, Katsuki suspects there’s a deeper meaning behind his worsening condition.

Such a unique idea for a post war fic! I never heard anything like this so i cant resist the urger to click on this fic when i saw the summary!!
Its rlly well written, i felt deku's fear and franticness and also felt kacchan's frustration too. I'm assuming aizawa's "house arrest" isnt rlly a punishment but just to let them heal and take their time.
Dekus amazing tho, running so far with his injuries. I love Kacchan's deku-senses too!!!

There was something wrong with the nerd. Katsuki could see it despite the smile the idiot plastered on his face in front of the rest of the class. A dark shadow had taken up residence behind those viridian eyes. It wasn’t abnormal. All of them had some weight resting on their shoulders since the war ended. They would never be the same people they were a year ago. But the difference between Izuku and everyone else is that the freckled boy was trying to shoulder everyone else's burdens without processing his own. It’s like he’s running away from all the memories of the war, but it wouldn’t stop them from catching up with him in time.
Katsuki hated how clearly he could see it—how blind the others were to it.
Izuku was drowning right in front of them, sinking deeper and deeper into the rapid currents of grief and guilt, and no one could see it.
