“Pick the game,” Jisung shoots back because his pride doesn’t know when to quit.
“Oh, I’ve got a few in mind.” Minho’s thumb traces the rim of his cup, smile flickering. “Hope you can keep up.”
Something tightens low in Jisung’s stomach, hot and dangerous. He hates how much he wants to pick another fight—or start something worse—just to keep Minho here, looking at him like that.

The stranger’s eyes followed each one of his movements, a mixture of fascination and hesitation overtaking the fear and panic. He blinked slowly, silent as he watched Jisung try to use his own tail as a shield."

A hand, cold as ice, gripped his shoulder tightly. The only thing he could see were the long, black-painted fingernails digging into his flesh, leaving faint, burning impressions.
His body refused to move, frozen by a terror that rooted him to the spot. He wanted to turn, to see who whispered those words, but something invisible held him back, an invisible chain wrapped tight around his mind. The darkness around him seemed to pulse, alive and waiting, as the voice whispered again, soft, relentless, demanding.

The scent of rusted metal, the drag of the strings, the ache on his thumb where the skin had been chipped off by a single mistake when he'd misangled the plectrum. He opened his eyes to see the scene in front of him again—the same venue—the same equipment—the same guitar. Jisung could barely make out much of the current happenings. His fingers were attuned with the guitar that they simply played with a mind of their own. This was his last show.
Music flowed through him like blood in his arteries and creativity flowed through his veins back to his heart - on the outside, he had the perfect life - the dream internship and university selection. But did he deserve any of it?
(Yeah. Yeah, he did. The neighbors of his new apartment, seven musicians who'd just lost their guitarist were compelled to prove that to him.)

Summary
Minho hesitantly moves forward, reaching a hand out when he’s only half a meter away. Jisung watches his hand like a hawk, eyes laser focused. The touch is feather light, barely even making contact with his skin as Minho picks the hair up between two fingers and brings it to the side, then tucks it into the strands near Jisung’s ear. The alpha backs away as soon as the hair is out of Jisung’s face, his expression set in determination.
Syrupy honey mixes with petrichor, thick and dripping. It’s a beautiful blend, still combined with something Jisung can’t quite place. And on top of it all, he can smell his own sickeningly sweet peaches. The floral scent of lavender fields blooming, topped with smooth, warm vanilla. Intoxicating, entrancing.
(or: to ensure the population is maintained, a government program is put into place to pair soulmates. Jisung didn't want to be paired, but maybe this alpha isn't so bad)
