He was turned away from Gus, and looked at the opposite side of the café, at one of the tables. He stared for a moment, disbelievingly, then blinked his eyes, just to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. All other things were forgotten in a split second—the crime scene, Juliet, the pastries, Gus. His mind went blank.
All at once he felt anger, regret, worry, and—most intensely—guilt. How could he have not noticed her?
A face he never wanted to see on this side of the police tape. The person he cherished most deeply in the world, slumped over a cafe table and drenched in blood. Is the world really so cruel?

Just figures that the first time he actually gets up the nerve to go through with it is the one time someone decides to notice him.

(Would they enjoy it, be happy he finally went through with it? Did they want a front row seat?)
Why can’t Izuku kill himself in peace, without some other hero trying to talk to him on a rooftop? (Let’s hope this conversation goes better than the last one.)

All at once, everything felt so much further away, so much colder than it was just a moment ago and it scared him.
If this was what dying felt like, he didn’t want to go.
He wanted to feel those fingers brush his hair away from his forehead, hear the whispered reassurances in his ear, see the love meant only for him in those brilliant, amethyst eyes.

Tim is attacked by an obnoxious, masked thirteen-year-old with throwing knives. The kid (Dick) has an impressive but suspicious amount of training under his belt, and he wants to know why.
Unfortunately, Tim’s idea of getting him to talk is by putting a bullet through his head... Let’s hope Jason can change his mind.

Summary
A kidnapping is nothing new for the vigilantes of Gotham and Bludhaven. It's not even the fifth time it's happened. But as the two oldest brothers are ripped away from the family, it becomes abundantly clear they aren't deal with their usual rogues. Something much more nefarious has found a home in Gotham and does not pull its punches against the vigilantes.

Dick and Jason are both kidnapped and the rest of the family struggles to find them. Resulting torture/medical experimentation and rescue. Hurt with comfort (eventually).

“Right.”
The kid snorts, “what, do you work in R&D at your own company?” When Tony just gives him a blank look he clears his throat, “nevermind. So if you can build a missile I bet you can figure out a way to get us out of here.”
Tony sighs, turning his face away. He’s so tired. “I can’t build them that weapon, kid.”
Now it’s the kid’s turn to look confused. “Then build something else,” he says simply.

Summary
Jason Todd dies, cradled in the arms of a man who had already seen too much death, and something in Batman breaks. His youngest of five children, in a coffin that should have held himself instead.
Therefore, when freshly orphaned Dick Grayson arrives at the gates of Wayne Manor, it is to a bleak and still in mourning family. He is not even given enough time to unpack his meagre set of belongings before he’s packing them again and is shipped off to a boarding school halfway across the globe.
And another one.
And then another.
And so on and so forth.
By the time he’s sixteen, he runs away from the worst of the lot, sick of being shafted off from place-to-place like an unwanted stray. Somehow, in his lowest moment, he catches the eye of a strange one-eyed mercenary, who presents him with an offer too good to refuse.
