Summary
“You okay?” Buck asks, and Eddie blinks, lets out the breath that had gotten caught in his throat.
“Yeah,” he says, even though – no, not really. “Sorry, just – a surprise, I guess. Hearing from him.”
Which is weird, come to think of it, because they used to be close. Closer than anything, as close as – well, as close as him and Buck, but in a different way. In a way that felt frantic and clinging and desperate, something to hold onto while they were being shot at.
Eddie hears from an old army buddy; it brings a few things to the surface.

Summary
“Yeah,” Eddie says, and it comes out more tired than he means it to. “The couch is a goner.”
“No,” Buck says, dramatically offended. “I love your couch.”
Eddie snorts, closing the fridge door with a soft click. “Let’s see what happens before we plan the funeral.”
They’re standing in Buck’s kitchen now. Buck leans against the counter, arms crossed, and Eddie props himself against the fridge. There’s maybe two feet between them, less, if either of them breathes too deep. The silence is comfortable, weighted but not heavy.
“You know,” Eddie says after a beat, “I’ve slept under worse conditions in the army.”
“Yes, Eddie,” Buck nods, rolling his eyes. “I know my apartment is better than a warzone.” He says it dryly, but there’s fondness behind it. “But we’re not in a warzone,” he adds. “And we’re not kids. So let’s act like the adults we are and go to sleep.”or: Eddie loses his house, shares a bed with Buck, has an existential crisis --really wants to kiss Buck-- and finally gets his man

Summary
“Eddie,” Buck breathes, laughing humorlessly, his voice wet and thick. “If we sat here and-- and went through the list of things I want…” his hands gesture aimlessly. “We’d-- be here all night.”
Eddie nods, catching Buck’s eyes again. “Maybe-- we start with mine, then.”
The space between them feels charged with static, like the second before the thunder finally rumbles.
-----
Eddie’s finally choosing to be better-- finally choosing joy. He just needs a push or two in the right direction, first.

Summary
"Buck’s voice has risen now, “I’m not going to stand by while the man I love is sick or worse just because he’s being stubborn!”
“I’m pregnant!”
The room fell into an immediate silence. Eddie yelled the words, and his own voice was now echoing in his skull. Buck’s expression goes slack, as does the rest of his body.
“What?”"
Or: Eddie finds out he's pregnant. So does the rest of the 118.

Summary
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Bobby,” Buck bites out. “He took three months off. Saw a physical therapist. Did a few sessions with Frank. Clearly, he’s doing great.”
Bobby chews his lip. “If you’re sure,” he says finally. “He just looked a little off at that car crash, is all.”
“I would have noticed,” Buck insists. “It’s Eddie. I would’ve noticed.”
