Then, as if the universe decided to throw him a bone, or perhaps just a very pointed "I told you so,” his phone buzzed in his pocket.
Midoriya was calling.
Shouta swiped the screen with a practiced, aggressive flick. He whipped around, turning his back to the students and stepping away from the class so they wouldn’t be able to hear what was being said.
“Hey, Sensei,” the teen’s voice came through, sounding entirely too casual for someone who was currently a missing person.
“Midoriya. Where are you? You should have been back by now.”
There was a pause, one that was a little too long for comfort, “Heh, uh, about that—I think I might, uh, be a little late back for movie night.”
Shouta’s eyes fixed on a point on the wall as he dragged out each word, his patience hanging by a very, very thin thread. “What happened?”
“The store’s being robbed—what? You’re, uh, kreech, krr, breaking up, kreech... what? Ah—oh, gosh, sorry—okay, talk to you later, bye!”
And then the line went dead.

“Right. Sorry. Bad start,” Midoriya squeaked. Shouta could almost see the kid on the other end of the line, probably vibrating with enough nervous energy to power a small city. “Seriously, this whole t-thing was—uh, everybody’s okay. Physically! Everyone is fine. Uh—well. The property damage is... mostly covered by insurance? Probably?”
Shouta closed his eyes and leaned his head against the headboard with a dull, rhythmic thud. “Property damage. At one in the morning. On your break.”
“Just a bit?”
“What happened?” Shouta drew out the words, each syllable dripping with a bone-deep exhaustion.
“I—” A long pause followed, then a whisper so thin it barely carried through the speaker. “I got into a fight.”
“Where?”
The silence on the other end was deafening.
“Midoriya Izuku,” Shouta warned, using the kid's full name again, his voice dropping into that low, dangerous territory that usually made students scramble for cover.
“A bar,” Midoriya finally whispered.

So, as the weather turned cold and classes let out for yet another winter break, Izuku did what he always did. After all, Christmas was just another day to him.

Izuku gets turned into a cat by a villain. Not necessarily an awful thing, except nobody is recognising him and he's done with this already.At least the chin scritches are good.
~~~Now that gentle fingers have disentangled his back legs, Izuku is able to leap forward with a fair bit more grace, landing on the coffee table right in front of the hero and spinning neatly around, plopping the paper down and setting a paw on top of it so that Aizawa-sensei won't try to take it back yet.
'This,' he explains, tapping a paw just above his name and ignoring the bitemark adjacent to it,
'Is me.' He brings that same paw up to awkwardly pat his own chest with the side of it. The hero is just staring at him, perfectly blank, uncomprehending, and Izuku rolls his eyes as best he can before repeating the movements and words.~~~

Mikey always, always told Donnie if he got hurt. If it was a paper cut, the youngest would come sprinting to Don with tears spilling down his cheeks and begging his immediate brother to 'make it stop hurting'. Donatello didn't have a problem with Mikey hiding injuries. He never had to reprimand his little brother for not showing him his battle wounds because, well, Mikey never went off rogue like the two eldest did. And to be quite honest, it was refreshing to the intellectually inclined turtle to not have to worry about his baby brother.
But it was because he wasn't worried about the youngest, Mikey was able to fly under the radar without the purple-banded brother's consent.

He blinked sluggishly, rolling onto his front. He had tried to draw to take his mind off these feelings, but he couldn't hold the stupid pencil. He hadn't even gone out for lunch...
"MIKEY!" He heard Raph call, making him wince. Raph's loud voice didn't do his head any favors... "COME ON, TIME FOR PATROL!"
Humming slightly, Michelangelo forced himself to move, swaying on the spot. Oh, shell... everything was spinning and he felt too hot-
Hold up.
He froze on the spot. Slowly, he put the back of his hand against his forehead. He... he was warm. Really warm...
Burning throat, trouble breathing, shaky limbs, tiredness, loss of appetite...
"...Oh my shell." Mikey groaned, covering his face with his hands. He couldn't be serious...
Did he seriously brush a fever off for his asthma all day?

The darkened woods around him suddenly burst open in dizzying white lights. Michelangelo is exposed to their glare, chasing away the shadows he has been taught to rely on so much.
“There! I see it!”
With a cry, Michelangelo tries to pull back into the safety of the night’s shadows. It proves to be an impossible task when humans are beginning to circle around him with their flashlights and guns all pointing towards him.
Get away. Hide.
Childishly, he wishes for his brothers. For Raph’s solid frame to hide behind. For Donnie’s reassuring voice of reason grounding him. For Leo’s confidence to lean on like a pillar in the sea, stopping him from getting pulled under by the waves that threaten to drown him.
Terror sweeps over him, because he is alone.~
What starts out as a late night adventure in the woods beside the farmhouse turns deadly when a group of hunters catch Mikey off guard. Alone and wounded, Mikey struggles to find his way to safety.
