“Emmrich,” Lucanis murmurs against his lips. It’s not quite a protest. Emmrich merely hums, searching for another kiss.
    “Mmmf?”
“Doctor Volkarin,” Lucanis tries again, and oh, that gets Emmrich’s attention. “I think I’m ready for my exam.”

For my Crows-centric Kinktober, Day 13: Medical Play
An ode to paper medical gowns, blue nitrile exam gloves, medical-grade lubricant, and anal speculums. In roughly that order.

    Summary

Lucanis always walked with purpose, yet this purpose seemed to take him less in a straight line and more on a meandering journey, lips pulling up into the shadow of a smile at the Necropolis. “Emmrich,” he said, and the word alone sounded relieved. Like the last weight had lifted from him.

“Lucanis,” Emmrich answered, straightening his lapel absently. “Welcome. And Spite. Lovely to see you both. The Crossroads were calm?”

“Quiet,” Lucanis said. Too quiet, Spite agreed, in a tone that bordered on grumbling. “Quiet is good.”

    Summary

Lucanis was once the best agent in all of Antiva.

A name that made dictators quake, now reduced to a campus guard who kicked the coffee machine whenever it ate his coins. Each night he wandered the empty halls of Nevarran University, torch in hand, resigned to another dull shift with only the shadows, and Spite, for company. Until one night, a thin strip of light bled from beneath an office door.

Professor Emmrich Volkarin, PhD. Parapsychology. Titles meant little to Lucanis, but staff hours were staff hours. He slipped a reminder note under the door and carried on, only to find, on his next loop, that the professor had left him a reply.
