It was strange. Whenever Branzy tried to think about his one real interaction with Prince Clown, it seemed dark at the edges. Corrupted.
But, if he concentrated, he could remember. Prince Clown, looking at him, from across the room. Then- somehow in front of him, too close, his voice echoing in Branzy’s ears as he said words in a tongue that sounded ancient.
No, Branzy didn’t understand the Prince. And he wasn’t sure he wanted to.
Branzy gets to meet Clown up close. Dark magic ensues.

There was a constant threat underlining everything he said. Dealing with the deadliest assassin was one thing, but nobody told him that he was actually dealing with the Devil.
Clown wasn’t as much of an unpredictable, psychopathic clown as the rumors suggested. But those rumors weren’t far off, either.
He loved Branzy in his own, twisted way.
Branzy just wasn’t sure if that love would kill him one day.

Summary
It was a nice gesture. So nice that he almost felt bad for betraying him and Subz. If they hadn’t been planning on killing Clown, he’d probably warn them. Try and help fight, maybe, anything besides betray them again to a man who was certainly going to tear them apart with his teeth as soon as he spotted them.
And yet, they had made the deadliest mistake of all: trusting Branzy to value them over Clown.
Really, they only had themselves to blame.

Summary
Clown is quite familiar with the different ways people act when they’re afraid - fight or flight, and all the variations thereof. Branzy doesn’t really fall into either category. Instead of running or attacking when he’s scared, he bargains and begs and flatters and generally does his best to please whoever is threatening him, shamelessly chameleoning himself into whatever role he thinks is most likely to keep him alive.
In this case, Branzy seems to have decided that the best way to keep Clown happy is absolute, unquestioning obedience.

Summary
Branzy's eyes darted to Clown’s hand wrapped around the scythe’s handle, understanding the corner he was put in. With a deep breath, he reached his out hand to grasp Clown’s outstretched one.
“Why do I feel like I’m making a deal with the devil?” he asked, a high pitched, fearful giggle escaping his lips.
The room became darker, a few bulbs blinking out as the temperature suddenly plummeted. Clown wrapped his hand around Branzy's, firmly shaking it even as the other took an instinctual step back, no doubt the primal part of him sensing the dark danger that escaped Clownpierce.
“Because the devil makes deals with me, my dear partner.”-
or, the self indulgent clownzy villain au where the heroes are nothing more than figureheads in a city rotting with corruption and the biggest threats to villains are their fellow criminals.

Which was weird. Very, very weird. Just to be entirely clear. It was creepy enough bouncing around a giant, empty circus tent with only a killer clown for occasional company, but now he could hear singing, and frankly, it felt like a new level of sheer unnveringness.
Last he’d checked, the only horror on Lifesteal was the existential one of imminent demise.
