He saw Mabel disappear, right in front of his eyes. He hadn't been hallucinating, or blocking it out from trauma. It wasn't a kidnapping or car accident. It was otherworldly.
Nobody believed him. But he held onto it all this time.

Summary
In short, an AU in which Varian grew up the younger brother to one Eugene Fitzherbert, more commonly known as Flynn Rider, and one Lance Strongbow who would deny having ever had another name.
At length, an AU in which one would-be Prince Horus was not sent to grow up in some random orphanage, but instead was put in the care of Quirin, the most sane of King Edmund's trusted Knights of the Brotherhood. Ten years later, he's Eugene, the first son of Lord Quirin of Old Corona and new older brother to Varian, who he is led to believe is his half-brother by blood. One year after that, both Varian's mother and their father have gone missing, and he's Eugene Fitzherbert (last name courtesy of the cruel orphanage workers and the other three unfortunately named Eugenes they already had on record), only remaining relative of a not-yet toddler. He went on to raise Varian with the help of Lance, his most trusted friend and literal partner in crime. A new name, one raccoon, a few too many enemies and thirteen years later, it's just him and Varian again.
Things can only get better from here. Right?
