There was a quiet more invasive than the deadly silence of the world beyond the walls protecting them and Leon hated himself for being so stupid— stupid fucking Kennedy saying shit he wasn’t supposed to say— fumbling for a way to cover up his fuck up, when Chris’s low voice broke the silence, saying, “I don’t hate you, Leon. I never have.”
“Liar,” Leon accused softly into the darkness of their warm refuge. “You’re a f-fucking liar.”

“No, absolutely not!”
Leon is livid, standing in Hunnigan’s office, grinding his teeth together so forcefully he’s surprised he doesn’t chip one of them.
“Leon, would you listen to me for one minute?”
She tries to get through to him but he doesn’t want to hear it, it’s enough that they’ve canceled his vacation again, but to ask this of him– is utterly humiliating.
“I said, I am not doing it!”
He digs around in his pants pocket, grasps the dark blue chip he finds there tightly between his thumb and index finger and bangs it on Hunnigan’s desk, leaving it between them like a beacon to remind her of what she’s demanding.
“You might as well just take it now.”
Six months of sobriety. Weekly AA meetings. A prescription for SSRIs, he isn’t dumping in the trash. He’s really trying to be better, he is, but he knows having to accept this mission, will make all of that be for naught.
Or
Chris and Leon take up an undercover mission, needing to set up a fake marriage. All seems to be going according to plan, if it weren’t for their own secrets slowly coming to light.

Again, Viktor did not respond with words—likely too far gone to even form them; instead, he gave an assenting hum, a hand coming down off of Jayce’s shoulder to rest atop Jayce’s at his cheek.“Good,” Jayce said, letting his voice go husky as he placed a final, brief peck of his lips to Viktor’s and started to migrate, first to the mole near his lips, then to his jawline and neck. “Because I’m going to take you apart…” he paused to lick at the mole at the base of Viktor’s neck, following it with a gentle bite that had Viktor tensing in the best way. “Disassemble your body until I’ve left my mark on every… last… piece…”

Rationally, Jayce is aware that Viktor provokes fights purely for his own enjoyment at least half the time. Not even someone as dead-set on being a bastard can realistically find enough reasons to start an argument as frequently as Viktor does. Rationally, Jayce is aware that he only gives Viktor what he wants when he responds to the provocation with anything other than pure indifference.
It’s real fucking difficult to stay indifferent when Viktor starts talking, though, and the urge to rip him apart is so physically overpowering, Jayce really has no other choice than to at least scream at him a little bit.
Or: Viktor pushes, and Jayce has no other choice than to push back, because his ego has always been fragile like that.
