Summary
It’s early spring, and the night air is cold and wet with the remains of winter. Every small gust of wind chills Charles to his bones, sending a shiver across his aching back. Wrapping his coat tightly around himself, he makes his way to the payphone two streets over. He has enough money in his pocket, but there’s no guarantee anyone would pick up.
Still, the sound of the line changing as he slips the coins into place is reassuring in its own way. Not trusting himself to remember the number correctly, he pulls a small piece of paper out of his jeans and starts pressing. It only rings twice.
Or: It's 1991 and Charles calls his best mate Edwin in the middle of the night to ask for a ride. Inspired by a handful of Smiths songs.

The heat of the Spanish sun makes David's skin crawl. Usually, he enjoys the sun. Usually, this is the one thing he loves about these holidays — two uninterrupted weeks of sun and beach. It's not like he really gets along with his mum and baby brother, even if it isn't quite as bad as it was when he was twenty.

Summary
At 19, three years after he had been called by the Watcher’s Council to begin his training, Olly feels like an old hand. He can swear he’d seen it all — potions that turn people into fish, ancient vampires you need a ten-foot-pole to dust, demons who enslave and kill people in a variety of more or less creative ways. They’ve all put a new meaning to the big “Slay Queen” poster he’s had over his bed since he came out at 13.
Somehow, it still amuses him when new baddies first realise that the seemingly helpless twink in front of them can give them a good tumble and throw them back to whatever dimension of hell they came from.
Without interrupting the quiet of the night, a figure steps into the small circle of light around him, putting Olly out of his boredom-induced misery. He’s alert now — ready for whatever the darkness throws at him.
Or: Olly is ready for anything, but he's not ready for the new vampire in town. No knowledge of the Buffyverse is required to read this fic.

Summary
“What in the world do you think you're doing?” Edwin asks, hands on his hips in the way Crystal says makes him look like a ‘cunty British Karen.’
This startles the man into dropping the shard of glass onto the pavement with a clink. “Fuck! Can't a guy trash his fucking ex's car ‘n peace?”
Edwin, for some reason, is startled by the man's appearance. The first thing he sees are black-lined eyes the color of honey, the golden hue almost glowing in the streetlight. Edwin’s love of mysteries, unfortunately for him, is only rivaled by his love of pretty boys. And while his plan to confront the vulgar vandal was not exactly fool-proof from the start, Edwin realizes he has severely miscalculated how the rest of this interaction would go, because the vandal is fucking gorgeous.

Edwin is a grad student who is sick of his friends trying to help him get over his crush on Charles by setting him up on dates. Thomas is hellbent on destroying his cheating ex's car right outside Edwin's window. And Edwin is having none of it...until he learns that Thomas' ex is actually Simon, his first-boyfriend-turned-bully.
Edwin needs a fake boyfriend. Thomas needs an alibi. What could possibly go wrong?

Summary
Even Charles can appreciate the subtleties of the choreography: Fire is boisterous, with great, choppy gestures, Water is in a blue outfit and flows gracefully, Earth stays close to the ground, with sure, stompy movements. It's Air, though, that captivates Charles’s attention: the boy is tall and graceful and pale, and seems to float, his feet barely touching the ground, showcasing astonishing feats of skill and athleticism. He spins and jumps so high, it seems as if he has wings.
