"Hi, Ms. Byers, welcome…" he trails off. A slight movement from behind her grabs his attention.
Ms. Byers follows his gaze, craning her neck to the side. She whispers inaudibly to a short figure that Mike failed to notice. Reluctantly, the figure peers out from behind the woman's hip, little fingers gripping her dress pants.
'A little brother?..'
Of course, Jonathan had never mentioned having a little brother.

Max rolls her eyes. “You’re not going to fail, you’re going to paint Mike.”
Will lifts his head up from his hands, eyes wide, and shakes his head. “You don’t understand.” He pleads with his awful, awful friends, voice low. “He’s been, he’s using my-he came out of my bathroom in just a towel last night.”

"I'm actually so excited to have you live with us," Will said giddily.
"You are?"
Mike hoped it didn't sound as pathetic to them as it did to him.
Will grinned at him. "For sure. I can finally do something about that hair of yours."
Despite himself, Mike laughed out loud, cherishing the taunting.
It was going to be fine. If he could have this Will by his side again, he could take other men having their way with him a thin wall away from Mike. Couldn't he?
Or: Will gives Mike a little bit of tough love, encouraging him to stop wasting his life. Mike moves in with Will and Dustin in New York only to realize that Will has a very - very - active sex life. Mike is okay with it for about three nanoseconds before he loses his mind, regretting every choice he ever made and desperately wishing it was him there with Will.

Summary
Mike's eyes went wide and gentle with that same pitying, protective look everyone had been giving Will ever since the Demogorgon took him: Poor, innocent Will. He hated that look. He hated being the baby. But seeing Mike look at him like he was a pristine, untouched thing… it twisted that shame into something desperate.
