Satoru nodded slowly, pretending to take it in. “So, you’re like… the guy behind the fashion shows?”
“Not yet, but maybe someday.” Suguru replied.
“That’s pretty cool,” Satoru said honestly, which caught Suguru off guard. “Way more interesting than what I do.”
“Physics and math,” Suguru reminded him. “That’s not exactly easy.”
“It’s boring,” Satoru admitted. “I’m good at it, but it’s boring. The only reason I stuck with it is because I can still play ball while I do it. I don’t really care about formulas or whatever, but it keeps me on the team, so it works.”
Suguru titled his head. “You don’t care about your majors at all?”
Satoru shrugged, taking another sip of soda. “Not really. I like basketball. Everything else is just… something I gotta do to keep playing.”
Suguru stared at him for a moment, unsure if he was serious. “That’s stupid.”
“Probably, but it’s the truth. I’ve never been the type to obsess over school. I like things simple. You study hard, I play hard. Balance.”

“Why does it not–” Kaveh’s voice ripped out in a whine. “Have you not thought about it at all since then?”
A long pause. The longest one yet. “Who says I haven’t?”
Lightning flashed through the window, illuminating Al-Haitham’s face. Half of it was still wrapped in shadow, blocked by Kaveh’s head, but he could see the distance between them measured, laid flat by the light. The lightning went. The room went dark. But the memory of Al-Haitham’s wide eyes did not leave him.
What did he want?
“Have you?” asked Kaveh.
“Have you?” Al-Haitham’s voice was so quiet, buried under the murmur of the rain.
Kaveh swallowed. “I mean…I thought that was obvious.”
Kaveh accidentally sleeps with Al-Haitham. And then...keeps sleeping with him.
