He had been diligently following a schedule with a therapist that came highly recommended by Zayne and made a lot of progress. That was until you came back into the picture. You were Caleb’s first and only crush outside of MC during school. Both of you shared your first kiss and would secretly hold hands in between classes, but then Caleb pulled back completely when he ultimately dedicated his entire world to MC. Now here you both were, back in each other’s orbit and trying to piece together your broken selves, wondering if second chances really do exist.

You shook your head, but gave him a smile, trying to soothe his worries, the ones you could see lingering in his eyes, your heart a fluttering bird in its cage. “It’s fine, it’s not work. It’s just…have you ever felt like you’re missing something?”
His eyes were looking through you again, or trying to at least. They felt so deep, and you wondered if you could drown in the bleeding pools, if you would ever let yourself be ensnared in the redness until it encompassed all of you.
“I keep going. I work. I go on with my life, but it always feels like something is missing, like I lost a part of myself and I can’t get it back,” you continued, voice getting lower and lower, eyes getting lost in the dreams and feelings that had felt so real, but couldn’t be.
