Jimmy switches from the tender stroking of Scott’s face to carding through her cyan hair, pulling the avian closer to him as he does so. Scott has always been a heavy sleeper, so when he presses gentle kisses to her face he’s not worried about that.

Summary
Martyn is a wanderer, doing odd jobs in various towns until he wears out his welcome and moves onto the next town. Dogwarts is different, and not just because of the amount of hybrids there. People are nice, and Martyn doesn't feel that same itch to leave that he usually does. It helps that his new employer is very nice on the eyes.

Jimmy undergoes the sensitive period, a period of time in which he mimics the songs he hears and implements them into his own. Except rather than mimicking songs, he's mimicking different acts of love, learning from his friends, his family, how to show affection. Written in the form of a 5+1 because obviously.
Or, 5 times in which Jimmy mimicked different forms of affection, and 1 time that everyone realizes what's happened.
Based on an actual biological concept with songbirds, if you're interested please look into songbird's sensitive periods. Super interesting stuff although according to google I'm wrong (I know I'm not super wrong cuz it was written in a textbook).

This wasn’t right. Something was scaring Tango, and Jimmy couldn’t let it go because his soulmate was hurting. Standing, Jimmy made his way over to Tango at a slow pace, holding his gaze in a way he hoped was gentle and kind. Tango looked up at him when Jimmy arrived before him, crimson eyes anxiously bright. Slowly, not wanting to cause the netherborn any more distress, Jimmy gently cupped his soulmate’s face in his hands, feeling the distressed heat coming from his hair and skin.
“Tango,” Jimmy asked softly, “Why don’t you want me to see your hands? Is it because of scarring? You should know I don’t have a problem with that - we literally are friends with a man who is covered in scars.”
Tango stared at him, stiff, clearly debating with himself on what he should say. After a moment of silence, the blazeborn whimpered out, “It’s not safe.”
And Jimmy understood.OR,
Tango always wears gloves. Jimmy wonders why, until he doesn’t.

Yeah. Pix or Gem would have probably been better to share a room with, or maybe even sleep in the barn with stag (despite how filthy it was in some inns). Not Jimmy, who he was definitely not falling in love with and would never think about what kind of chapstick the blonde uses because he's seen him getting ready in the morning due to how late he wakes up.
