On Friday, Blonde Blazer found a new sucker to try (and fail) to wrangle the infamous Z-Team at SDN's Torrance location. On Friday, they all bet he'd be gone by Monday. On Monday, he showed up. On Tuesday, he showed up again. On Wednesday, they got to put a face to the voice.
He was the most basic and boring man he’d ever seen in his life. Average height, average brown hair cut into an average look, with big doe eyes and even bigger bags underneath them, a freckled face supported by a frame so thin and frail looking a soft breeze might knock him on his ass. All in all, he was entirely unremarkable in any and every way. Kind of cute, but in the same way a malnourished puppy covered in mud on the side of the road was cute.

Every power has a price. Something that would make you laugh at the irony if it wasn't so damn infuriating. A man with the strength of ten at the height of half of one. A woman with asthma who needs to hold her breath to stay invisible. A walking fireball who can lose his eyebrows to a rogue flame.

Summary
Robert Robertson is the most infuriating man Flambae has ever met. Even more so since he revealed that he is, in fact, Mechaman.
However, somewhere between beating Shroud and returning to work, Flambae gradually begins to realize that maybe there was more to Robert than just the blind hatred he'd held onto for so long.
Between not-dates and vet visits, Flambae's feelings slowly begin to shift, from irritation to something that feels a lot like heart-palpatations.

And it was definitely meant for something so much more.” Mecha Man leaned back against the bar, eyes tracing the open V in his costume, lingering on his bare chest, before slowly drifting his gaze back up to Flambae’s. “I’m sure you’re an amazing superhero now.”
The comment Flambae was about to make died on the tip of his tongue. Any retort he could’ve possibly thought of scrambled with the butterflies ramming against the insides of his stomach, silenced by the alarms screaming behind his eyes. Was this some kind of trick? Was he about to jump him? What the fuck is happening? And why was Flambae freaking the fuck out over some few choice words that seem really close to a genuine compliment?

"You gotta stop doing this near the sources of water," Robert comments lazily, turning around to lean back against the sink. He smirks at the sight of Flambae. Dripping wet, and eyes wild. Pathetic.
"Just you wait until I set you on fire in your sleep," Flambae says through gritted teeth, fingers twitching as if he's trying to summon his fire despite the water impairing him.
"Bringing kinky shit into the bedroom already?" Robert quips. He crosses his arms, not cowed in the slightest by the other's larger frame.

“How?” Flambae seems almost incredulous that Robert could possibly be hurt outside of his overconfidence in the gym.
“It’s always there, it just flares up every few days. I can manage it.”
Flambae puts his food down, the lightest trail of steam rising from it. “So, chronic.”
“Sure.” Robert deadpans. “Considering the shitshow that is my life, I wouldn’t put it past me.”
“And, what, you’re doing nothing about it?” Flambae presses with a glare, and Robert raises an eyebrow at his tone. Is that. . concern? Huh.

Robert's chronic pain is flaring up more often as the weather starts getting cooler. While juggling weeks mixed with dispatching and field work, now that he's Mecha Man again, it's proving to be pretty difficult to ignore.
However, a certain flaming asshole starts taking notice. His favors start to make Robert realize something and also force the two of them to confront the history that haunts them both before whatever this is starts to become an option.
