How long has it been since he last saw the girl who sang that beautiful song?
The song was once upon a time a calm relief from treacherous noises back when Hyakkimaru got his hearing back, and had to get used to the sounds of the world. But now that his body was complete, Hyakkimaru decided to help fulfil Mio's dream of growing a large rice field with the bag of rice seeds she entrusted to him previously.
CONTEXT:
An alternate timeline where Mio and the children she took care of actually survived. After Hyakkimaru gets all his body parts back and his body is fully restored, he returns to the abandoned temple to help Mio and the children grow their own rice field. Years later, when Dororo grows older, Hyakkimaru ends up marrying Mio and they both become the "parents" of the children orphaned by the war. Summary
Sung Jin-Woo is still the Shadow Monarch and he still grows in power unlike any other hunter. However, he doesn't have the system to back him up. He is a reawakened hunter with the skill to create undead shadow soldiers without any cheats or instant healing. Bearing the injuries of the double dungeon must fight the trials ahead of him with far more public scrutiny than before.
In other words
Solo leveling but there's no system and Jin-Woo responds to things like a real person who has emotions. He's still OP but not nearly to the level as in canon. He functions with the same worldbuilding as all the other Hunters in the setting, with things taking a pretty different course in the long run.

Thomas skillfully ignored all of the poorly hidden stares his entire guild was sending the pair of them and settled himself in the car. When he tried to put Jinwoo down on the seat next to him, the younger Korean let out a truly heartbreaking whimper of pain and fear before latching back onto him with enough strength that he most definitely would bruise this time. Thomas snorted in mild amusement before settling his soulmate more comfortably against his chest.
“Alright alright snuggle time doesn’t have to be over yet,” Thomas huffed fondly. “But you will be explaining all of this once you are coherent again, you hear me?”
Jinwoo merely responded with another completely inhuman purr as he buried his face in Thomas’ chest. The younger man wasn't usually anywhere near this cuddly with him as he still had some touch aversion after years of being mistreated by other hunters while raiding gates at the lowest rank possible. It still made Thomas’ blood boil anytime he saw Jinwoo shy away from contact he knew the other craved simply because he wasn't comfortable around others.
