Vi was laughing with Ekko when they opened up the donations with text to speech. All the hilarious messages they were receiving. She leaned forward and grabbed the mic, “Heyyy, this is ya girl Vi with DJ Ekko streaming some holiday cheer to our local stations. Donations are open! We appreciate the love and support!”
“Gotta admit, this is such a Zaun way to go about things.” Ekko spoke into the mic. “I really do miss the small town vibes. And—oh [bleep!] You gotta fat tip, Vi! Check it out.”
The stream lit up with a $500 donation that rushed to the front with a message that was read out loud.
‘It’s not even Thanksgiving. This station is ridiculous. Stop playing Christmas music!’ The username read K8LN.
Vi and Ekko stilled at the message, “Huh?”
Their chat went crazy.

Vi can see Caitlyn's eyes soften as they find her lips. She swallows, so thick Vi can practically hear her, and Vi's own body suddenly fails her. The stuttering breaths that follow as she realises Caitlyn really isn't stopping, that this is really happening, are the last thing Vi can hear before it dawns on her that she's actually about to be kissed.

Summary
This story is dedicated to all those who felt as though the show ended too quickly and we didnt get to see just how affected Vi and Caitlyn would have been after everything they went through
In the aftermath of the battle, Vi can't seem to crawl her way out of her grief after losing almost everyone she ever loved. She becomes self-destructive and can't help but stumble back into her old ways. Unable to find hope in this newer, brighter world, the darkness inside of herself drags her down to a place where she doesn't know if she will ever be able to escape.
After Vi is seriously injured during a pit fight, Caitlyn's life is knocked off its axis. How would she survive if Vi died? Who would she become if Vi was no longer around to help guide her morality?
Are they truly meant to be together? Or will staying together only tear them apart?
This story is of two women working through their individual traumas to overcome deep loss and still find love again.

Vi scoffed and stomped forward, the gravel crunching beneath her feet as she approached Caitlyn, who looked up at her with an empty, disinterested expression.
She stopped right in front of her, chest puffed out, voice dripping with venom.
“Good lord, Kiramman, maybe pace yourself for once. What’s the plan? Smoke yourself into an early grave so we don’t have to deal with you anymore?”
Caitlyn’s head jerked slightly, her features a cool mask of indifference.
“Though I am flattered by your concern," she said icily, taking a slow, deliberate drag from her cigarette, “I assure you that I am perfectly capable of handling myself, thank you very much.”
“Oh, yeah? Is that why you’re here?”
Caitlyn slightly perked one of her eyebrows. The look on her face made Vi immediately feel incredibly stupid and childish.
“No. I am here to smoke a cigarette. In peace. Why are you here?”

Dr. Kiramman steers her through the chaos and plants her in a chair. Does something to her arm that hurts like fuck, then drapes her in bags of ice and wraps her in a sling. Blinds her with a pen light—“Called it,” she mumbles when he confirms she’s concussed—and presses two pills and a warm mug into her hand. It smells herbaceous. Familiar.
“I brought the good stuff from home,” Dr. Kiramman confesses, and it takes her a moment to understand he means tea. “Extra honey for you. I know you haven’t acquired the taste.”
He’s right in that she only actually drank it once, the first time it was offered—the afternoon they spoke to the Council, several lifetimes ago. But she tasted it just this morning in Caitlyn’s mouth, grassy and sweet. So she pops the pills and takes a sip. Tries not to think about whether that terrified kiss over breakfast was their last. “I want to see her.”
After the war, Vi and Cait recover, and rebuild.

After ten years in Stillwater for a crime she didn't commit, Vi breaks herself out and goes home. Her homecoming doesn't go like she thought it would.
Two years later, she's out of control and out on the streets. She's now a champion pitfighter, a raging alcoholic, and completely on her own. Despite her family's best (and desperate) efforts to help, Vi's on a one-way track to ending up either dead or back in prison.
At the same time, Caitlyn arrives in the undercity to collect data and information for her thesis. She starts her research from a local bar called The Last Drop, which puts her right into Vi's path. Vi might have been out of her family's home for years, but she's still not going to let a topsider put them in danger.
Canon divergence (everyone lives!), enemies to lovers (barely, the lovers aspect happens fast), angst, trauma, addiction, and also fluff and humour (because these things can co-exist!)

“Oh, my god,” Ianthe drawled, her amaranthine eyes glittering maliciously. Gideon forced herself to keep staring straight ahead, to not show weakness; she would not let this emotional terrorist bully her into showing her delicate underbelly.
Her features hardened into armor as the fatal cut hit her square-on: “You’ve already done it, haven’t you?” Ianthe crooned slowly. “You two have already fucked.”
The crudeness and callousness of the words hit Gideon right in the chest, and she felt raw, torn-open and wounded. She turned the force of her vicious golden glower to meet Ianthe’s purple one and felt her pulse start to race as her steady, even breathing transitioned to haggard panting. Ianthe's eyes lit up brightly at Gideon’s visible and growing distress. She didn’t have the capacity to dwell on how much of a sadistic freak Ianthe clearly was like she normally might because all her efforts were focused on keeping her eyes free from angry tears.
“Christ above, it’s worse, even,” Ianthe continued, interrupting her mental self-flagellation. “Good heavens, you have feelings for the girl.”AKA a modern griddlehark au with lots of other character interactions and LOTSSSS of gay drama and a good amount of smut!
