There’s hardly anything to do in the Hall of Mandos, but to think. About his brothers. About the absence of their father. About Maglor, still stranded on the shores of Middle Earth. His mother, safe from the evils of this world, yet separated from all whom she (hopefully still) loves. His wife, who he hadn’t seen in just as long. His own hands, itching, twitching with the need to just do something about it.
But give Curufin another millenia and the thought of getting busted out of the Halls wouldn’t have even crossed his mind.

Summary
Thorin may be stubborn, but Dáin is even worse. After all, Thorin never tried to break down the barriers between the Halls of Waiting and the Undying Lands simply by beating his head on the nearest wall. Thorin has a plan, thank you very much, one he and Narvi have been working on for ages, and things would really be much easier if Dáin didn't insist on constantly drawing attention to the fact that he very much misses a certain prissy woodland sprite.
Of course, for all that Thorin and Narvi's plan might be superior, there is always the possibility that Kíli might be the smartest of them, or at least the most persistent. Really, Mahal shouldn't have made Durin's Line quite so insistent in their love if he didn't want to get nagged into opening doors here and there.
Legolas and Gimli might think this is all just nonsense, but it's not like they have much of a choice except deal with it all, anyway.

Summary
Courting one's Beloved is a difficult enough process at the best of times, with complex customs and many steps to remember. For Thorin Oakenshield, it's a whole lot more complicated than that.
For a start, his Beloved is a hobbit who has absolutely no idea that he even is Thorin's Beloved, let alone the steps of courtship.
Secondly, Thorin may or may not be completely invisible to said hobbit, for reasons only the Maker knows.
As Thorin is swiftly learning, Mahal has ever laughed upon his sons of the Line of Durin.

Hobbit kink meme: So I've read several stories of Bilbo meeting up with Thorin and company in the grey havens, but I'd like to see it from Frodos point of view.
What's his reaction when Bilbo gets mobbed by dwarves after stepping off the boat? And does he have a near heart attack when his uncle starts making out with the dwarven king? After all- I can't imagine that Bilbo ever told him that part of the story before.

Tired of his lonely kitchen in Yavanna's Garden, Bilbo Baggins wonders if the dwarven love of being underground is true in death. If so, maybe his dwarves are living (ha ha) under the very land Bilbo is weeding.
With that thought, Bilbo goes and asks Hamfast for a shovel.

There is too much death, too much blood, and in the middle of it sits one small Hobbit, left quite alone but for a body on the ground and the memory of what might have been. But he is a tenacious creature, and if there is one thing that he has learnt, it is not to give up hope.

There was only one problem. Thorin has been in a Hell of his own devising this whole time, one created by self-hatred for his crimes committed under the influence of dragon sickness, and the Valar are begging for Bilbo to talk some sense into him and thus free him.
