Summary
Since Eddie left, they’ve been talking non-stop every single day. This unsettling silence doesn’t make any sense – Buck is sure something must’ve happened. Eddie sounded so happy last time they talked because things with his son were finally getting better. There had been a real light in his voice, the kind Buck could recognize even underwater. So, he doesn’t know what might’ve made him vanish into thin air as if he were a ghost. It could be anything, and Buck is scared shitless. It’s a nightmare and Buck can’t seem to wake up from it.

He deflated, the fight draining out of him. For the first time since they met, Buck felt like he was staring at a stranger.

Maddie Buckley-Han is a very patient women, because most would have simply locked these two idiots into a car together and let nature sort itself out. She at least pretended to want Buck's weird bougie Vegan food, before locking them in a car together and letting nature take its course.
Except, the Car is in fact mutual grief, pining, and a late-in-life sexuality crisis that isn't really a crisis and more of a karmic correction.
I.E.: What I think we all were expecting from the 'Maddie bought Eddie at the auction' event, and the subsequent meddling she performs thereafter for the low-low price of 2.5k. Eddie Diaz paid 2.5k to not date another woman. She's had enough.

Set after Eddie is shot, Season 4, episode 14, but we are pretending that Eddie and Ana never dated. When Eddie’s gunshot wound puts him into a coma, Buck discovers that he is the one appointed to raise Christopher. It doesn’t go over well when Eddie’s parents arrive and start to demand to take Christopher back to Texas with them. Buck isn’t going to lay down and take their crap. Eddie didn’t want Christopher with them and Buck was going to make sure they never got any time with Christopher. But as the days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months, Buck is struggling to pay not only his bills, but also Eddie’s at the house. Buck never expected to be a single parent, but he wasn’t going to let Eddie down. He loved the man too much to fail either him or his son. But when Eddie wakes up, how will he feel about all of the changes? And will his own growing feelings for Buck still be there? One second Eddie was standing on the street and the next he was waking up in a hospital bed with a war going on all around him. Unlike before though, he isn’t alone and him and Buck were not going to let his parents win, no matter what.
