My human-imitation code cued me to blink. Three’s drone was creeping closer to my face. Three hadn’t initiated many conversations yet, so this was notable.
I responded to its channel, “Yeah, but I don’t know if I’m the right one to help.”
3.03 seconds passed. Then Three said, “I can help. I’ll go.”

The humans were chattering happily, someone mentioned snacks, lah-di-dah, just another boring workday poking around a rogue SecUnit’s brain. (I wish they’d handle this with a little more gravitas. Like, my life and freedom were ending here, could you show a little respect? I know that’s too much to ask, but still.)
